EDIT: Making a new review due to the utter debacle at the gun counter. Online purchase, did the background check paperwork in-store. Called to check on the status at 15 days, told me they were waiting to hear back, called again at 20 days, same answer.
Finally I called BCSO (Benton County Sherriff's Office) to find out what was taking so long, they told me they had no background check request... it turns out Sportsman's SAT ON THE PAPERWORK FOR 26 DAYS before submitting it to BCSO after I finally called them out about not submitting the paperwork. Sportsmans gun counter manager then called me and told me BCSO did receive it but didn't check the email, BCSO however told me that it was NEVER SUBMITTED...
I'm more inclined to believe the law enforcement officers rather than the Sportsmans Warehouse employee but who knows, regardless, BCSO went the extra mile and expedited the background check because I was getting REALLY close to the 30 day mark when everything would expire and the whole process would start over again (fill out the background check, submit, wait 10 days, etc).
Finally, day 30 arrives, BCSO calls me in the afternoon to tell me everything is good and they have emailed off the information to Sportsmans.
However, Sportsmans cannot log into their system to check the status because "the computer is down or something"... I have no idea what's going on with these people, is it ignorance? Incompetence? Do they just not care enough to follow up on a check that's several weeks overdue? Do their computers suck so bad that they cannot properly email a request for a background check as well as even check the email later when it comes back? I don't know, but as a customer it's frustrating when your gut feeling is that you're just getting yanked around by people who give zero F's about their job regardless of whether it was a computer/technical issue or not.
I could care less about whether I actually get this gun, I'm just shocked at how terrible the folks at Sportsman's are at handling the sale of a firearm. It's bad enough that I would STRONGLY recommend anyone interested in buying a firearm to look elsewhere in town and not go to Sportsman's Warehouse on Canal Drive in Kennewick...

Read moreI am beyond shocked. In all my life, I have to admit that this is the worse customer service I have ever experienced. No joke. If someone like me could be irritated, itâs just bad. Like for real. The workers have become lax . They need customer training. No joke. In some places , based on this 1 experience a whole team could be fired.
What happened? I called in yesterday evening. Asked if they had guns for sell they said yes. if I make it before 8:30pm , I should be able to get the gun. I got there at 8:12pm and the dude at the cash register told me oh! She just came and closed us out early since market was slow. Imagine tired from work but still drove 24 minutes total, to run to a gun store that told you to come over and they told you they cashed out as soon as you get there, when you met the requirements. No problem. He showed me a Glock 19 , I liked it. Guess what? It was $70 cheaper than most stores. I told him I was going to come over the next day to pick it up.
The next day on my way from work as I was driving there , my mind told me to call them as I was 5 minutes away. Guess what I heard when I asked if the gun was available for pickup? Oh! We donât have any in store. The one you touched yesterday was only for show. You will have to order online. I was like why order online if I can go to another place and buy physically? Even if I have to pay $70 more. What made me sad was that I vent out at the wrong person. The guy I talked to on the phone understood the business than the idx at the counter yesterday. Also, I had to wait on hold for 7 minutes cut the call and call again. WTH? How can you run another personâs business like that? If itâs your business, will you treat the customer like that? How did these guys even have a 4 star? Itâs also the companyâs fault. How can you hire people and not train them the basics? Itâs more than I know about guns. Itâs about treating customers well. Itâs just bad man. People like that are bad for the economy. Sorry for the guy that took my venting though đ . I ended up getting the stuff I needed from...
Read moreGiving this 2 stars because in the past I have liked coming to this store to buy some items. However a few days ago made me really mad. Came in to buy a fishing rod and some fishing gear along with a fishing license for my significant other. When I got home I went over the receipt because it did seem a little high to me when we we were at the store but I had our two kids with us (5 & 4) so we were rushing a little. Anyways , come to realize that on his fishing license it was marked a Non-Resident and was charged about $84 when it should be been a little under $30. We lived in tri cities for over 5 years. Went back to get the difference of $50 back. They told us we had to had to fish and wildlife of Washington to cancel the current license before they could refund anything. They said âyeah we see here the address and Iâd is in Washington but somehow it got marked non resident.â That day we went to the store they didnât answer calls cause it was a Saturday, couldnât call Sunday because they were closed. Finally got in contact with them and canceled the new one. Went back and they said we had to pay the $30 one but then made an excuse on why they couldnât refund us (said because they had to make a re activate a new one and couldnât do a refund on invalid one) like what the hell? I was furious and they wouldnât do anything. So I bought the stupid license for $30 because that is what we wanted to begin with and why we bought everything else to begin with (to go fishing). So I spend $110 just in a damn license when it shouldâve coast me $30. No coming back for anything like this again. The person who did the licensing seemed like a younger girl maybe in her early 20s. Maybe she just wasnât trained enough or knew what she was doing. But it...
