River Styx Spring — Attraction in Kentucky

Overall the trail is very well developed pathways with a fair amount of steps. There are several viewing areas to see the actual exit from the caves of the water and the entrance of the spring to the Green River. Beautiful trail to the river Styx springs. This is located just outside the mammoth cave discovery tour area within mammoth cave national park. The trail is moderate and beautiful as it surrounded by nature. The trail is unpaved. There is short boardwalk once you reach near to the river Styx springs. Pretty cool spot, very scenic. The geology and hydrology of the caves is intertwined with the springs, sinkholes and capstone rock strata. Fascinating stuff. It is a .4 mile hike over some hilly terrain but mostly downhill...getting back up is the challenge. The caves get all the glory at this park but the hiking trails deserve...
