When you try to buy an America The Beautiful Access Pass, you may be inclined to pick yours up here as it is difficult to purchase in person. Absolutely not worth it. Why offer the pass at your location if there are no benefits? No discounts available if you pay for the pass or for the campground. This was incredibly frustrating as many other national parks without entrance fees have amenities and other services available for pass holders (such as the Redwoods). But nope, none here. They charge in the name of preservation but I've never visited a national park this persistent about nickeling and diming for everything. So disappointing. I was told to do more research before I visit, but I did hours of research. I visited every website and called every number available that the NPS and even the individual park itself offers, but they have cut their phones. I tried to call the federal service and they only operate on mountain time and can only mail you a pass. I am deeply offended that they are setting visitors up for failure and telling them to do better research when they're giving inadequate...

Mammoth’s History tour is the one we took, and if you go, book in advance options up to 6 months ahead for any of the tours you want.
Great ranger guide, who answered all questions & made the tour very fun. This was in a 2 mile part of the 465 miles that this cave is known to extend through the USA. Apparently there are people recording more caverns now & look for a report in 2024 to see what they found. And this has been an entrance used for over 5000 years - except for the stairs!
Recommended for most adults & children as long as you can walk & climb...

Do this before your tour and you get some really good historic insight. They also have a really well stocked gift shop. My family bought some really nice t shirts and coffee mugs.
