Sunset Point — Attraction in Kentucky

Getting to Sunset Point is an easy walk from Mammoth Cave. The trail is gravel and decked the entire way with loads of places to sit. plenty of benches and a few areas you could have a picnic, if you wanted (still on the trail). After you reach the end of the trail at Sunset Point, I highly reccomend you continue down the offshoot to the River Styx Springs rather than follow the loop back to Mammoth Cave. There are some...

Gorgeous, well manicured trail and a wonderful place to watch the occasional bat fly up from Dixon Cave after sunset. On the evening we visited, we didn't get any big color splash, but it was very enjoyable. If you have young ones, the frogs will delight them when they start hopping in earnest after dark (I mean the frogs, but maybe the kids, too!) And , in the right season, fireflies twinkle all...

Beautiful - quiet - relatively easy hike on a gravel road… totally worth the trip.
