Rebecca who was working the office was FANTASTIC! She was soo helpful and kind when interacting with any guests, excellent at multitasking, and seemed to be solving problems left right and centre. The location was also amazing, the environment and wildlife, you can’t get better. The mammoth caves are a great experience and the Sunset Terrace being minutes away from the visitor center is great when you have an early tour. The room; we stayed in 303, the bedroom in appearance seems to have been 90% updated with some things still needing touch ups HOWEVER immediately upon entering the room you smell mildew/mold. Unfortunately the bathroom lacks much needed updates and very obviously has mold growing on the ceiling/walls/tile cracks. I have a respiratory condition and have been wheezing and congested since my stay. This is a health concern that needs to be remedied immediately. This is the only reason its getting such a low rating, clients/visitors deserve a safe...
Read moreFamily (anywhere from 8 to 20) makes exodus to MCNP every June, been doing so for 4 generations. Always stay at Sunset Terrace, rooms 317-319 at the far end by hiking trail because only people passing by are on hikes. Beds decent, A/C great, older looking bathrooms with vintage tile from floor 4 feet up the walls with nice tub/shower, folding card table and 2 extra chairs in closet of each room means picnicking in front of rooms with abundant table space and seating. Back wall of each room has bank of windows looking out into forest behind rooms, easily spot turkey and white tail every trip. Last year we were told there were going to be a lot of improvements and updates made by summer of 2016, will review again after the next trip. Rooms are not cheap ($110/night per room last three years) but your exposure to other tourists is greatly diminished, next to no sounds of vehicles or other people (except when guests check out in mornings or pass by heading to or from...
Read moreBe sure to read the descriptions on Mammoth Cave's website before booking a stay here. Most poor reviews are coming from people that didn't know what they were signing up for. After reading the descriptions, our room actually exceeded our expectations. I would put this on par with a 2-star chain hotel. The fact that you are steps away from miles of hiking trails and a short hike (on a paved path) from the park's major attractions makes this a wonderful place to stay. Our family of 5 fit comfortably into a room with 2 double beds and a rollaway. The hot water doesn't last long, so quick showers are suggested, but overall a pleasing stay...
