Very Disappointing Experience
Unfortunately, we didn’t even get the chance to experience the stay we booked. My boyfriend and I reserved a night at the Woodland Cottages specifically because they are the only pet-friendly option at the lodge, and we were bringing our dog. We had several email exchanges with the front desk confirming that pets were allowed and received clear approval to bring our dog.
However, upon arrival, we were informed that we had been moved—without any prior notice—to what was essentially a standard hotel room. When we asked why, Ronnie at the front desk was unable to provide any explanation. When we requested to speak to someone who might know more, he became dismissive and rude, yet still had no answers.
We reiterated that we had a dog with us, and Ronnie informed us that the room we had been moved to does not allow pets and that only the Woodland Cottages accommodate them—exactly why we booked them in the first place.
What was supposed to be a cozy weekend cabin getaway turned into a frustrating and confusing experience. Worse, our dog wasn’t even allowed in the new room. The lack of communication and the unprofessional attitude we encountered at the front desk left us feeling unwelcome and disappointed.
It would have been helpful—and respectful—to be notified of any changes to our reservation before we made a several-hour drive. Unfortunately, this was a waste of time and money. We won’t...
Read moreWe had a quick family getaway and this cabin was perfect!! We debated between tent camping, a cabin or a hotel. We wanted to stay on site and preferred the tent-camping feel of being in the woods but not sleeping on the floor. It was like a summer camp cabin, but the beds were way more comfortable. No A/C but we were more than comfortable for our early August trip. Between the bedrooms in our cabin was a small toilet room and a small shower room. Each room had its own sink and mirror. Each bed had a clean folded towel and washcloth at the foot of the bed upon arrival. Clean hand towels were at the sinks. There is a mini fridge which was plenty big enough to fit everything from our cooler in it. There was a front and back porch (doors to each bedroom).
It is close to the Lodge and the Visitor's Center. We brought our bikes and enjoyed a nice family bike ride on the bike trail. We saw many deer and the kids wanted to go out after dark and see the stars without city lights in the way.
With windows open, and the cabins fairly close to each other, you could hear others talking and other people's dogs in the afternoon, but evening came and we decided to close the windows and it actually got almost chilly.
We would definitely stay here again. Our family decided we like it even better than a motel where you share a wall with...

In any event when I booked the room it wasn't supposed to be terribly cold. Well the weather changed. It was absolutely FREEZING! And had I known prior that there was no heat, I would have probably booked something else, as I was traveling with a small child. Cleanliness on a scale of 1-10, I would give it a 5.
Check in was supposed to be at 3pm and we kept being told to come back the room was not ready. We were not able to get the keys until after 430pm.
And last but not least, I get that we are sleeping in an outdoor cabin, however, I wasn't expecting to wake up to a mouse in my room chewing away at muffin my son had left out.
Lessons learned here, do not book these cabins anytime in spring unless you bring a portable heater (which I am not sure would even work anyhow because there in no insulation and cracks in the walls) or prepared to freeze nearly to death. Do not book these rooms if you are afraid on little creatures. If a mouse can get in, ugh I don't even want to know what else could make...
