Crazy experience with friends and family and it was a blast! It was also raining that day which added on to the hike up the hill then down into the cave. “Warning” it was freezing down there so make sure to dress appropriately to the cave temperature if you don’t like the cold don’t go those days. Anyways, the prices were pretty reasonable and the staff was friendly. If you don’t want to go in a cave, you can go into the little information tunnel with info on the history of the caves and things about them, you could do everything too! Also there are many little souvenirs you can get from the gift shop from stones to snow globes! There is a food stand to get quick food like hotdogs, burgers, fries and your basic drinks and sodas. Overall a great experience I recommend going to with...

We took 3 tours in the mamoth cave area. We tried booking our tours 4 weeks out and could only get 2 tours. Frozen Niagara was our favorite. Lots of cool formations to see, not too long, not top difficult. Mammoth historic tour was next. It is a hugh dry cave, massive tunnels leading to some hugh rooms. We did not like the fast pace walk and trying ti snap pictures on the fly. It does had a view difficult areas if you are over weight, which I am, but I managed. Lots of stairs to come back up plus the quarter mile walk uphill out side the cave. Last cave was Crystal onyx cave. This is a much smaller cave with lots of cave formations which were cool very similar to frozen Niagara. But if you have small children they will love the dinasors and martians and other memorabilia. We had...

I signed my boys (ages 9 and 11) to go on the TROG TOUR (kids only!) with a few friends. They had the most incredible time crawling through small cave tunnels, and discovering parts of the cave that are rarely seen. Their guides were Autumn, Jonathan, and Jim, were top notch. Very friendly and knowledgeable, great with kids, they imparted cool cave facts to the kids on the tour, as well as some good “Dad jokes.” The kids came out of the cave dirty and hot and talking a mile a minute about their exciting adventure.

I’ve been to Mammoth Cave many times in my life, but this was the first time trying a different tour.

Took the Mammoth Cave Historic Tour, and it was awesome! There were incredible natural formations and passageways as well as many man-made structures and tunneling. The tour was led by a ranger, and it took about 2 hours in total. The walking itself was fairly easy, but the visibility of course was poor, and there were many parts with low ceilings, narrow passages, and tall, tiny tunnels. It was interesting to hear about the history of the tunnel and learn about how the original laborers worked in abysmal conditions - working deep in a cave with only a tiny lantern for lighting. I definitely recommend this tour for those looking for the Mammoth Cave experience!

I went on a self-guided tour which was about an hour and a 1/2 depending on. How fast or slow you walk. I enjoyed it tremendously. I did not realize that I had to reserve a more in depth tour well in advance. So I suggest if you are planning to visit you get your tickets as soon as possible! You do not have to buy a ticket in advance for the self guided tour. I also suggest you bring a sweater or a light jacket with you because it is cold when you get down in the caves.
