The manager, Diana, was incredibly rude during an interaction today. I asked one of the employees to price check an ottoman for me. There was a price written on the bottom, but it was illegible. You weren’t able to make out if it was “080” or “050.” It looked more like a five, because someone went over that part several times with a sharpie, which would likely indicate they were trying to emphasize that it was a 5. When Diana came over, she told me it was 080. When I showed her how illegible it was, she still wasn’t able to show me any proof, any tag, or anything in the system that the item was $79.99. I also pointed out to her that the ottoman was dirty with brown spots and that the inside was broken (which I would have to glue down) and that made the top not sit on straight. She offered me 10% off the item, which would make it non-refundable. This is standard, as I used to work at TJ Maxx. However, the manager does have the discretion to give more than 10% off of an item and when I told her that she said “yes and this is what I’m deciding.” I asked “for a damaged, dirty item that has an illegible number on the bottom, you’re choosing to say it’s $80 and not offer anything less than 10% off, making it non-refundable?” And she said “yes” with a smirk. There was no reasoning behind why she was holding the number at $80 even though it was illegible (and very much looked like a 5, more than it did an 8) and even though it was clearly damaged and dirty with stains that would not come off by her scratching them. In the while encounter, Diana was extremely rude. Saying everything with a major attitude and smirk, even though I was being polite to her. As a former TJ Maxx employee at a different location in Texas, our managers never would have conducted business in that way. What my managers at TJ Maxx would have done (and I know this from seeing it firsthand) is that they would have looked the item up in the system to confirm the price. If they couldn't find the price, they’d go with the price on the bottom. And in this case, since the number was ambiguous, they likely would have gone with what the number most looked like (which in this case was a 5) OR they would have compared it to something similar on the floor or in the back. Diana did none of that. Even if they couldn’t give a higher discount, they would let the customer know why and they would be kind about it. They wouldn’t have a bad, nasty attitude with a smirk on their face…. getting a power trip because they’re a manager of a TJ Maxx. What a shame for...
Read moreExperience used to be good until recently they have been pushing credit cards so much. I get it’s their job to ask since I used to be one but they never take no for an answer and they actually make you feel so bad because of how rude they are. Today I feel like a line was crossed.. I had an Indian woman today and she legit tried to gaslight my little sister into getting a credit card at first she didn’t even tell her, she made it seem like a normal card and she almost fell for it, she legit said it’s not really one when it is. When I told my sister it’s a credit card, the associate kept pushing it saying over and over let’s try it, let’s try it, let’s see if you get approved. We legit went back and forth with her for like 5-8ish minutes which is ridiculous. We made up so many excuses and we told her at least 5 times no and she was actually REALLY passive aggressive after that. If this is going to keep happening I will just stop shopping there. I shop there every weekend so it would be a shame to stop...
Read moreCame to this location only to find the type of item i was looking for was locked in a little glass tower with a bunch of other similar tools where all the boxes were all face down not allowing me to see which type of hair styler was what. When i asked the employee to unlock the tower so I could see she hovered over me and wouldn’t even let me comfortably shop. There were over 15 types of hair stylers and I had to ask her to flip each box over to see if it was what I was looking for because she said I wasn’t allowed to touch the merchandise. By this point I was no longer comfortable shopping and just asked her to go ahead and close the tower. If you’re going to have items locked (which I understand) at least have the products facing out so customers can find what they are looking for. I rather go spend my money at the Atascosita location.. Do...
