"Breathe deep. This is a green property 100% smoke and vape free" claims signs all around the Village. But who's enforcing that? You get groups of people passing around a blunt all the time, people take smoke breaks in front of Sandbox, the Whoole Foods employees take their smoke breaks sitting on one of those signs! Salt & Straw employees smoke by their employee entrance. Where does it end? Maybe there needs to be more of these signs. Maybe security should be enforcing the "rules". And yes there is a convenient set of "rules" posted around the Village if you care to read the 20+ things you agree to while you are here.
Speaking of security.. Never once have I seen security around when I would expect them around. Not stopping smokers. Not investigating cars racing in the garages. Not investigating cars dealing something out of the garages. Not securing the scene in any way before cops show up over someone crashing their car, getting out, and breaking things. I know there is Village security, I see them walk around all the time! They just disappear when it's time for them to do more than walk around or drive around in their truck.
The Village has plenty of parking, so feel free to laugh at everyone who blocks the street trying to parallel park. Or quietly go around then and turn into one of the garages. The garages are marked by blue and green signs with a helpful counter of how many spaces are left. Although if it says 8888, that's actually broken and has never worked (for years). If your car does not need to be covered, there is also a huge parking lot if you get off the main two streets. Please be aware also that the crosswalks are not painted here at the Village because somebody decided bricks were contrasting agains the road enough to not need that. And two crosswalks at the main intersection have a fun light, but there are also 10 other places where people might get in front of a car. So go slow, even if you did just get off 405 and feel like you're crawling. The speed limit is 25 which is still way higher than a pedestrian heavy area such as the Village should allow. Interestingly there are also no speed bumps around the Village so I guess we really don't care about the speed limit here.
The Village really cares about your experience when you're here so they have landscapers, leaf blowers, and power washers take care of the aesthetics. The wood chipper at 4 in the goddamn morning was an excellent touch as well.
Anyway the assortment of stores here is pretty unique and fun. You can have a spa day and then go shopping. You can grab dinner and a movie, then have ice cream for dessert. You could just be here for some high-end groceries. The summer concert series sounds fun. There's a running group that meets up in the middle of the Village a couple times a week. The holiday pop up with Santa was...

Read moreIt’s honestly ridiculous how developers cram 4,000 apartments into a 10-acre area and then squeeze in 150 shopping centers right alongside them — all without proper access to any major highways or freeways. Instead, they dump all that traffic onto tiny little streets like the ones you’d find in Kirkland, where the roads were never designed to handle this many cars.
The parking lots are just as bad. The spots are so small you can barely fit a compact car, let alone anything bigger. Trying to drive around or park here is incredibly frustrating. It feels like nobody thought ahead about what happens when you flood an already small area with thousands and thousands more people and cars.
Honestly, it should be illegal to design parking this badly. They clearly prioritized cramming in as much as possible without thinking about basic functionality.
This place used to actually be decent about 20–23 years ago, when it was quieter and...
