My issue was not with the color. I have had it colored at Madison Reed three times now in an auburn shade, which is my natural color although I now have a lot of gray. One time /Feb/ I used Madison Reed to color it at home and it came out very dark.
My issue is with the shampoo and blow dry. $45 for blow dry .Every time it has looked terrible, but this last time took the cake. I specifically told the woman doing my shampoo that I have very fine hair and it needs to be very well rinsed with little product. She proceeded to spend less than two minutes rinsing my hair and I could tell that it was full of color still, she did not even rinse the bottom by my neck so I had to walk around with wet color, still against my neck and dripping down my neck. She appeared incapable of taking in information and there is no "manager" there to address these issues with. At least not one that will appear in public.
I told her I wanted it blown dry straight with a little curve at the end and that my bangs, since I have a cowlick, need to be blown dry down and to the side. She proceeded to blow dry my hair flat down to my head and rolled my bangs up and back from my head so I ended up looking like a flock of seagulls. I tried to fix it myself, but as you know, once bangs are in place, you cannot fix them, it looked absolutely hideous and I had another appointment across the street and was supposed to meet friends later which I canceled. When you leave a salon, you are supposed to feel good not have to go home and wash your hair yourself especially when you pay $45 for a blowout . I ended up seeing someone I knew who was quite taken back by the appearance of my hair and thought I was ill.
Are they limited on the amount of water they are allowed to use and why do you advertise a scalp massage which is never given? They probably used less than a gallon of water on my hair.
The atmosphere at this particular Madison Reed is very strange. All of the workers seem frightened and very unhappy . Plus , why do they cover mirrors in front of each station with artificial grass and only a few people get a mirror? It is the strangest thing I have ever seen. It's ugly and just plain weird plus you are rarely greeted when you come into the place.
The concept of just being able to come in and get your roots done is good but this salon is not. I am only there because my stylist is on maternity leave.
By the way, none of the photos on my account page are of me. In the first one, my hair was never that color and in the after photo my hair was not that long. I did not see any photos after that.
They were supposed to call me today at 2 o'clock to discuss this and I just received an email telling me they were giving me a $50 credit. I tried to cancel my membership and received three different non-English-speaking persons who were asking for extremely personal information about my credit card and personal info which they had no need to know to cancel my membership. I canceled it online and notified my credit card company that have no idea whether it is really canceled but will be filing up with fraud charges if it is not.
Walk don't run from this place. I thought it would be great because I often need my roots touched up as I have a solid color, but this place is horrid. Far from being relaxing, you have to be on edge the entire time you are there because the people that work there are so unhappy and so incompetent. No wonder they cover the mirrors WITH ARTIFICIAL GRASS AND LITTLE BASKETS whoever heard of that in a beauty salon? I felt like I was in...
Read moreOK HERE COMES THE REASON FOR THE NEGATIVE REVIEW. I made my appointment 6 weeks ago, for a first appointment of the day to ensure I wouldn't be late for a party I was attending at noon. My colorist I was told was running late, I asked how late, 15 min (first appt of the day). 30 mins later no colorist for my appointment time. One of the other colorists took me on and I was grateful and said only if it doesn't cause someone else's appointment to be late. I had 3 staff people ask, how are you and how was your experience. No reason to lie, I said you know to be a client in at 10 first thing and no one show up to work and you have a subscription for a prepaid service you have been paying for many years......or even if you don't, I was really disappointed by the service. The hair washer asked; I shared. She said we have an acting manager onsite, I said ok. HERE IS WHERE THE REVIEW GETS REALLY BAD.....OK SO THE ACTING MANAGER FINALLY COMES TO ME.......very somber and says what do you want me to do to make it right; I said isn't that something you should be offering me, what can you offer to make it right? She said we can't comp you because you prepay. Ok I said what about my next service, I can't authorize that. NEVER I AM SORRY; NEXT, SHE THROWS THAT COLORIST THAT WAS VERY KI'ND UNDER THE BUS, said there was no one scheduled and no one was late coming in. You are not guaranteed to be service within any time frame. And she can't control it if people don't come in on time and she doesn't make the schedule. What do you want to make this right; I said, let me stop you there, and SHE HAD THE NERVE TO SAY YOU ARE THREATING ME. I said no I am not; I will wait and contact your corporate company. She walked away and came back to say very unkindly She CANCELLED MY SUBSCRIPTION, AND SAID I CALLED MY GM AND CORPORATE.
I AM VERY HURT, AND FRUSTRATED I DIDN'T AND DON'T TREAT PEOPLE POORLY. AFTER THREE KIND PEOPLE ASSISTING ME, I GET THE MANAGER WHO WAS NOT EVEN LOOKING LIKE SHE WANTED TO BE THERE AND THIS IS WHAT I GOT. I GO UP TO PAY AND SHE SAYS I CANCELED YOUR SUBSCRIPTION. I SAID REALLY, THAT WAS A DISCUSSION AS I MENTIONED I WOULD HAVE WITH YOUR CORPORATE OFFICE. SHE SAID YOU CAN. Here is my confusion, when did a passive aggressive manager become OK with you to employee. I suggested she may want to take some classes in management and emotional intelligence. I was using tool in dealing with the situation myself. Two of the three staff members that previously asked me how I was did again, on my way to the counter and I repeated the "acting manager" said and how she said I threatened her. I never raised my voice, never made myself loud for other customers to hear my complaints. With that said I live an hour to the south of this location; but appreciated that Sundays after church I could make an appointment, and my husband would bring me since I couldn't drive. More than one occasion they were not operating on time; but you know I never scheduled first thing in the morning, so I tended to think that could be expected. Never gave a negative review because I had the time. Once my color was not great and MR made it right. Wonderful! I didn't leave a tip on my card; but did return with cash tip for the colorist and shampooer for their kindness and ability to just listen and try to help me. THEY and the other girl where I was drying my hair, were KIND, SINCERE and just listened, that's what I really needed the...
Read moreUpdate since my first experience here:
Madison Reed hair color bar in is admittedly, the only place that I will use hair dye from. I genuinely believe that the product they use our a high end and good quality brand if you want to color hair, but also advocate for the most healthy way to do it.
That being said, I would give the product six stars! Unfortunately, the actual location only is getting three stars for me. I have dyed my hair here, but more than that I have decided to begin picking up color kits from here.
They are easy to use at home and give me the same amazing results if not better than in Salon.
I canât give five stars here unfortunately due to the Customer Service and front desk. I come in here regularly enough to shop products and pick up hair color kits. However, I must say that every time I have stopped by it just seems like they are not the most trained/Aware of their customer service etiquette.
I understand that the company probably allows only so many staff, but as a customer, the amount of staff at the front desk that is supposed to take care of customers checking in IN ADDITION TO walkins, who are shopping products are just not enough people.
I typically have to wait to be assisted, and the most recent time that I shopped with them, I was told not to âwaitâ and not touch or look at any of the products until somebody was helping me. To add problems on top of that, the person assisting me almost checked out the wrong box of color to me.
While, I love the product, I do not love the training that staff get, or the experience that customers get if you are not an appt.
I am asking as a customer for the company to address the customer experience for your customers who are just popping in to buy product.
(Old first review below)
This review is for Andrew and Charlie! What a positive experience! This review is to let any and all know that the time spent in the studio is well worth the stop. Especially if you are looking to try hair color out when you previously haven't ever. I appreciate how confident Andrew was in his answers during my first visit there, and how patient Charlie was with all my questions. It seems like a very well run, clean, and punctual studio. They are certainly 5 stars in my book.
The cons, that most aren't there fault is: limited parking, and hard to reach...
