My mother went to purchase a dining set she saw that was 20% off. When she got to the register it rang up as normal price. She mentioned it was 20% off and there was a sign up stating so. The cashier and the store manager both insisted she was wrong and with a terrible attitude told her she would not get the 20% off (savings of a whopping 8 dollars) my mother then told the store manager there was a sign up on the dining set that stated 20% off. The store manager told my mother to follow her over and she will prove her wrong with a very snobby attitude. Along with my mother, the manager and 2 other associates walked over to the aisle to have a look. With the show of people, attitude, and argumentative demeanor the store manager was unhappy to see that infact there was a sign startin 20% off. Needless to say my mother got the Earth shattering 8 dollars off. The next day as i, her son, was getting Thanksgiving dinner situated I wanted to wash the dishes before use. Upon opening the box I found out that some of the bowls in the box were broken. This time I drive down to big lots to take care of the issue. (No one disrespects my mother let alone in a retail world where customer satisfaction is the number one priority. I myself work retail) I unfortunately was not able to talk to the store manager because she had home home early for Thanksgiving. I explained the situation to the cashier and she said it was no problem. Just got grab another box and we can do the exchange. When I got back to the register, the cashier told me I owed her 8 dollars and she could not honor the original 20% off. I straight out told her, no I do not... This is an exchange of damaged goods. It's not my mother's nor my fault the associates did not do thier job to remove the original 20% off sign or our fault the product was damaged. After discussing this with another "manager" the exchange was made. I got back home to yet again find broken items in the box. This was also a different set because the original set we wanted they only had one more box of that was also destroyed. On my 3rd trip there I told the associates I was going to exchange the box again and this time open everything in the store. I finally got a 40 dollar dinner set undamaged after 3 trips and far too much arguing and jumping through hoops. The last associate that helped me was very pleasant. Overall, the store manager has no idea how to manage a store let alone her attitude. This will result in a call to corporate. The associates my mother and I delt with were very unfriendly and unprofessional.
On a side note 80% of the stock in the store has absolutely no price tags or price plates indicating how much items are until you get to the register. This store and store manager needs to be reevaluated.
I would have givin it a 1 star if not for the gentlemen on my last...
Read moreSome good prices, but a lot of household goods are just cheap junk. Cheaply made sheets, (some of mine came out of the dryer one big wrinkle), some thin towels, some throw pillows, (lose their shapes), etc. Bought a memory foam couch-didn't take long for the memory foam to get dementia and sink into itself. (I sit in pretty much a big dent). Health and beauty items, foods, stationery have good prices, meds are better prices than drug stores. Very little to no floor help, so you're on your own finding something. Mostly work with a skeleton crew. Usual night crew is one cashier, one furniture person, one floor person and one manager. Only time it's fully and decently staffed is holidays or very special advertised days, such as the Friends and Family 20% off days. I worked there for over 2 years and know. The store manager felt free to tell me no matter what discounts they gave, they still made a 30% profit. Today, with a new remodel, it's basically a furniture store. LOTS less other products, and not even close to what they previously carried. Anything other than furniture is place around the perimeter of the store. You are surrounded by furniture. Seconds, rejects from name brand companies. This is why pieces are so cheap. I know this as fact. If you notice, the parking lot is nearly empty the majority of the time. It used to be full all the time. People came for food, household products, etc. Now all they find is tiny inventory and a store packed with furniture. Fact. Noticed several commercials on Roku-FilmRise, for Big Lots furniture only. Every commercial-furniture. Personally not interested in shopping there anymore. They aren't carrying what I used to buy, not to mention I had to ask where ONE item I wanted was even placed. Don't see how they'll last long like this. I talked to a complete stranger about it and even she said the same thing and that if they went back to what they used to sell, she would go back. Seems as though the store is now 85% furniture and not carrying any of my usually purchased items, therefore, fewer trips. Sad. Prices are outrageous on items I've seen at the Dollar Tree, so I leave and head straight for the "Tree". Didn't have what I wanted and used to...
Read moreI have been coming to this store for about a year and I’ve always enjoyed my time shopping here BUT today I had a very creepy experience, as I was walking around looking at furniture, kitchen appliances and other larger items this very large man kept following me, and I mean everywhere, then as I was facing the wall looking at vacuum cleaners I turn around and there he is with his phone pointed at me like he’s videoing me!!! When he seen he got caught he began walking away and I stopped him and I said CAN I HELP YOU?!? And some other vulgar words Pretty loudly and With a rude tone, he stumbled his words and then just disappeared. At first I thought it was a secret shopper making sure I wasn’t stealing but even those people aren’t as IN YOUR FACE as this guy was, so I asked the cashier about him and she said he didn’t sound like anyone they have working there! But she watched me as I walked to my car and genuinely seemed very concerned, I also warned the manager about the guy. Moral of story, watch yourselves woman especially! If someone creeps you out and is following you don’t hesitate to let them know that your aware of there presence! I truly believe my calling him out like I did was a repellent and scared him off! Watch your children people! There’s some...
