Something truly bizarre happened to me yesterday, and I still can’t make sense of it.

I’ve been living in the area for a few months now, and I’ve been stopping by this vape shop for about 5-6 months, maybe 6 or 7 times total. Every time, it’s been the same routine: I walk in, ask for my usual flavor, the guy grabs it from the back, I pay, and I leave. Nothing more to it. Always smooth, always pleasant. That is, until yesterday.

I walked in, asked for my usual flavor, and the guy behind the counter gave me the most strange look. This is the same guy who’s helped me every single time, so I was immediately thrown off. He asked if I had an account with them, to which I replied I didn’t think so. He handed me the iPad to input my number, and of course, nothing came up. Then he told me they didn’t have the flavor I wanted—only the nicotine-free ones. I was completely confused. I’ve been buying that exact flavor from them for months. I asked him, “Since when?” He replied, “I’ve never seen you here before. If you’ve been coming here for months, why don’t you have an account?”

At this point, I’m starting to get a little agitated, so I told him that no one had ever asked me to sign up. Now, just to give you some context—I’m a 6-foot-tall blonde Black woman. I’m not exactly forgettable, and I’m pretty sure I’ve made an impression.

I asked if I could sign up for an account right then and there, and he just shrugged it off, saying he didn’t believe I’d ever been there before. I showed him my credit card statements as proof that I’ve been a regular customer, but he still refused to sell me the vape. Then, a new customer walked in, and the guy behind the counter greeted him with excitement, sold him a vape right on the spot, all while I stood there, still trying to figure out what was going on.

The whole interaction was beyond strange. I had no idea it was a requirement to be “a known regular” to buy something from a shop. Honestly, the entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth. If you’re looking for a place that treats customers with respect and doesn’t make you feel like you’re being profiled, save your time and money—go somewhere else. This place is shady, and I honestly don’t know what...

First, let me start by saying that as I read all of these reviews I can only say that they are not exaggerating about the customer service. When I came in there pay late in the evening on a Sunday I had the pleasure of interacting with Tony. He was friendly, helpful, humble and charming. Everything you could ask for from a customer satisfaction point of view.

I’ve been a vape smoker for quite a while now, and am very particular in what and how I smoke: most places I went to had expired juices, and one place still had a juice that had 6mg Nico still in it from the manufacturer. Which is illegal in the city of Chicago.

But not at IVY! Juices are fresh and taste amazing. The hard to find coils (that I went to 5 smoke shops in a 4 mile radius and no one had them or even knew what device they go to) were right there in the case. They have everything you could need for the beginner to expert vape smoke enthusiast.

Solomon was the one who took care of me today, and I appreciate it so much. My phone died while waiting for a ride and he let me charge my phone. I insisted I buy something and he kept refusing. He chatted with me for a half hour while my phone charged and made me feel comfortable. His shop was clean, had so many e-cig tops, and glass pipes in his shops, and so much other stuff that I’m inexperience to give you information. But he has a great deal of weed knowledge that if you needed help outside his store, he can easily refer you where to go business wise. A nice and rare human being to find in chicago.
