As a life-long Chiefs fan, I was so excited to try one of the two Chiefs bars in Chicago Iâve heard about. I was so disappointed with Toons. It was busy due to game day which I expected, but the service was horrible. We waited 20 minutes for a drink even while standing in front of the bar with no one in front of us. One of the bartenders was just so rude and didnât pay us any attention even when I politely tried to wave him down. Maybe they prefer their regulars but I donât think that justifies the attitude?
Later when I went to ask for my tab, that same bartender literally put his hand up as if to âshooâ me away. I also saw him rolling his eyes after taking other customers drink orders. I totally get having a bad day and I used to bartend myself, but you made your bad day ours too. The other bartender was more polite but overall still an unreasonable wait time and poor service. Sadly donât think Iâll...
Read moreI visited the area to catch a Cubs game and wanted to visit a local pub. The pub lived up to what I thought a Chicago pub would be. The food was simple in terms of it's complexity. Yet no matter what your taste are you would find the food here is prepared with great care. Delivering a powerful statement on how good simple food can be. The onion ring's where perfection as the mix of breading and onion correctly balanced. The pulled turkey was great. The turkey was smoked perfectly so to taste the turkey, well enjoying the smokiness of the meat. The BBQ sauce added flavor without hiding the meats flavor. The fries where perfectly cooked. The crowd was mixed and seemed to enjoy that place. It seems like a place you would visit every week if you lived in the area. I believe it is a place that should be visited at least once to know what a Pub...
Read moreMost rude and aggressive door man I have ever experienced. I tried to watch the chiefs game here with my parents. We showed up right at kick off and when we tried to show our IDs and enter, the door man held up his hand in our faces and wouldnât say anything. After a few seconds of looking confused, the door man finally said âweâre at capacity.â When I asked him if we could wait to get in he grew more aggressive and said âitâs one in one out.â Fine, understandable. The tone/aggression was not necessary. We waited for people to exit so we could enter. The door man still wouldnât let us in, despite watching three people exit.
Big bummer. I have always enjoyed this bar. Will not be going back now. I wonder if the rest of the wait staff/owners know that they have such an aggressive and rude person working at their...
