The only reason I'm giving this 2 stars instead of one is because the food was okay and The Bloody Mary was good. The hostess sat us and we waited 20 mins before our server, her name was Patience, came to get our drink order. We ordered our drinks and food right away and then didn't see her again for another 20 mins. We had to ask another server for a water refill - don't know his name but he was the only server actually trending to his tabels to fill it up.
We then watched a food runner run our drinks out from the bar, dropped part of it off to a different table, looked around at all tables, go to the computer kiosk to check who the rest of the drinks belonged to, wasn't able to figure it out and walked it back to the bar. I was calling after this gentleman to get his attention and he literally walked past our table and didn't look back to check and see. Then I asked a bus boy to get us our server. She then came to the table with PART of our drink orders 25 minutes after we ordered it and said the guy took the rest to the wrong table ( which we witnessed) and we would have to wait for the rest.
At this point one person from our group was annoyed so he asked to have this food cancelled and he wanted to leave. To which she said she couldn't do that because all of our food was already ready. my friend then asked for his to be to-go. From then we waited 15 MORE minutes to get our "already ready" food. Someone else brought us our food. Our server didn't come to check in on our table, got part of our food order wrong and was chatting up with another server in the corner. She walked by a few times but wouldnt stop at our table to check in on us. I had to flag her down to get our check.
The food was good but not extraordinary (you can find better around the city for the same price range) The service was God awful. It looked like a good place and had good reviews so we went. We however had a horrible experience and will not be returning nor would I ever recommend it. If you do go make sure your server...
Read moreWorst brunch experience in Chicago. Don’t be fooled by the seemingly too-good-to-be-true Chicago restaurant week deal for bottomless brunch here, trust your instincts. First of all, this place required a deposit in order to make a reservation, which in return you would expect to guarantee you a table at that time. I had to call the owner a week later to get the deposit back. We were seated pretty quickly but after we ordered, it was over an hour until the waitress came back with any other information about our food. This is completely unacceptable. When we finally flagged over the waitress she didn’t say sorry, instead she gave an excuse, saying that there was “another large party in the back” — we were a party of 9 and should have received the same attention as whatever large party was there. It’s one thing to apologize in advance and offer a free appetizer, but they weren’t capable even of that. It took over an hour for chips and guac to come out…
When the food finally came out, two hours later, half of it was average and the other half was nasty cafeteria food. It all felt like it had been waiting under a heat lamp for way too long. I ended up sending back the shakshuka — it was practically inedible and the dish was plated like someones leftovers. We were all clearly exhausted and wanting to leave and the waitress tried to offer us a free round of shots (at 4pm on a Sunday?) which we all refused, rather than offering to comp something actually useful like the $18 chips and guac or any of the other over-priced items on the receipt.
The entire experience was over 2 hours during which we only received service the last 30 minutes. To top it all off, we were automatically charged 20% gratuity, but I wanted to leave so desperately that I didn’t even argue. Could not recommend less. Below average food, horrible service,...
Read moreDisclaimer: This review is not a comprehensive review of the restaurant and it's entirety due to limitations. My visit was during Chicago Restaurant Week 2024, for brunch, which had limited offerings (1 drink, 1 entree, dessert). The food was good, but not great. I ordered the Shakshuka, which, according to the menu, stated there would be 3 eggs; however, when it was brought to me, there were only 2. Additionally, it came with two slices of bread, which was slightly off-putting, since the dish was served in a 9" cast-iron skillet. I had asked for additional bread and that took a very long time to get. By the time it was finally brought out, my dish had already gotten cold and was barely enjoyable. My friend, who accompanied me along this food adventure, ordered the Bistro Double Burger. Although I didn't have a bite of it, I knew it was very satisfying, just by the sheer size of it. The fries that were served with it were also very good. Not overly salty and were quite crisp. The dessert that was served was Katayef, which is essentially cheese wrapped in a pancake. Honestly, it wasn't horrible but it wasn't good either. It was neither sweet nor savory. There wasn't enough syrup to push it into the dessert category, nor was the cheeses used, enough to make it savory. I applaud the attempt; however, it needs to be rethought/revamped. For the overall service, aside from the bread snapfu, it was good but also a bit confusing. When I sat initially, two different servers kept coming by to greet and talk to me. I didn't know if they were just helping one another or if there was some confusion. I ended up bringing it up and then they finally got...
