Southern Gentlemen Antiques & More — Attraction in Lakeland

This store is purely clean, enjoyable and of the highest quality. Fred, who was behind the register when I came in was the most friendly and genuinely happy man. He even offered me a water while walking around.

And this place has so much. It’s like a giant treasure chest for adults. There are several rooms full, absolutely stocked full of goodies, and it does not look that roomy on the outside of the store.

There are all kinds of old school knick knacks, a ton of really beautiful glassware and themed salt shakers. Of course, your pick of gorgeous and unique furniture, locally made prints of Lakeland and even antique shaving sets.

As several people asked just in my one visit, this did used to be the location of “What’s New” consignment boutique. But clearly, it is not there anymore because they moved locations. Now Southern Gentleman has taken over and they know how to have some...

My second visit was as good as the first. Last year (or so) I got this neat dresser-top chest (its a guy storage box now ) with a cool closure that locks if you swing it around. It has so much character, no matter how new or old it is or where it came from. My second visit 7/2023 was another exercise in exploring this gem of Lakeland, and it's not difficult to spend an hour in here.

This time I got a contemporary set of coffee table coasters; I mean you can't leave without something, right? Harold is a blast to talk with and was there both times. You really must not pass this shop by before stopping in. This is like a museum, but you can touch things and bring them home.

I had mentioned to Harold how interesting the little bag was he put my coasters in. It looks like old yellowed newspaper and I said it might look neat in a frame, so...

This shop is simply beautiful. I love the aesthetic, and everything inside seemed high quality and well maintained- ready for a new life in a new home! There are also handmade items from local artists in several sections throughout the shop, and 5 additional rooms in the back behind the register. Also Fred was such a pleasure to interact with, and he certainly enhanced our experience while purchasing a gorgeous china cabinet. I look forward...
