I had the pleasure of visiting this shop for my birthday after longing for a visit for several months. First off, there are SO MANY items to see. The walls, cabinets, and surfaces all have amazing products. My advice is to take your time browsing if oddities are what you’re into or else you might miss something. I had the pleasure of meeting a staff member (wish I remembered her name) who was extremely knowledgeable about the Radium girls and the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory tragedy. She was so kind, attentive, and helpful. She took the time to show me various mortuary tools they had in stock after voicing my interest in them. That employee additionally showed me her frogs and educated me on them which I LOVED. There are so many things to appreciate here. Visiting this store made my birthday trip so worth it. Friendly staff, excellent variety of items, and amazing genuine specimens. 10/10. Cannot wait to visit again and clear out some of their wishlist items for me. If you’re on the fence about visiting, take the plunge. These people are truly incredible and have so many options for all areas of interest. Thank you for making my birthday so worth it. Keep doing what...
Read moreIf your idea of a good time involves staring in wide-eyed wonder at a two-headed calf (taxidermied, of course), then boy, do I have the place for you. Cleveland Curiosities is less a shop and more a museum of the delightfully odd. It's where Victorian gothic meets Ripley's Believe It Or Not, with a dash of "what the heck am I looking at?" thrown in for good measure. Seriously, this place has it all: shrunken heads (sorry, ancestors!), antique torture devices (ouch!), and enough creepy dolls to fuel your nightmares for weeks. But here's the kicker: the staff isn't just there to ring up your purchases (a jar of pickled bats, perhaps?). They're like walking encyclopedias of the strange and unusual. They'll happily regale you with tales of the bizarre, explaining the history behind each item with the enthusiasm of a caffeinated professor. So, if you're looking for a break from the mundane, head to Cleveland Curiosities. Just be prepared to leave with more questions than answers, a slightly disturbed sense of humor, and maybe a newfound appreciation for the truly bizarre. (Oh, and maybe some sage advice: don't touch anything without...
Read moreVisited a while ago and really liked it. Went today while we were in the area. I was so glad to see that, not only have they expanded the shop, but they have a bigger assortment of items. They were extremely nice the entire time we browsed, they were not aggressive at all with sales tactics or constantly asking if they could help us. We were given the time and freedom to explore. We’d done at least 3 laps through the shop and would find something new that we’d missed each time.
Not only that, but we got to know more about certain pieces in the shop, including the elephant and rhino skull. Very cool and informative. I don’t understand the one star ratings, every time I visit they have always been pleasant and the environment is welcoming. I suppose some people walk in with certain expectations, which shouldn’t be done at an oddities shop. If you think vintage and rate pieces are overpriced, oddity shops are not for you.
With that being said, I would highly recommend Cleveland Curiosities, whether or in the area or looking for a really cool small...
