Rising Star Coffee Roasters — Restaurant in Lakewood

I’ve visited almost every Rising Star location in the Cleveland area for the past 10 years, Lakewood is now my go to home store. Every drink and every staff member has been a 10/10 since I moved here! Something iced off the seasonal menu is usually my go to because I enjoy trying new things.

I fully support the Rising Star Workers Union, call for the immediate reinstatement of their assistant manager Allie Jeswald, and look forward to seeing how Rising Star’s owners will work with them going forward.

Without the Rising Star staff providing exceptional service I wouldn’t have kept coming here and bragging about how amazing their coffee is to everyone I know for the last 10 years.

EDIT: Since posting this review Rising Star has continued to display what is seemingly union busting tactics against their staff and community. They have yet to negotiate in good faith with the RisingStarWorkersUnion and have fired 2 employees. They have now closed down the Lakewood location until further notice.

EDIT 2 8/18/2025: I will now be changing my review to a 1 star considering Rising Star owners have yet to properly address issues, have lied in their social media claiming a “mob of outsiders” showed up to their store when it was just people who have supported them and their baristas for many many years. Rising Star has now hired a big union busting law firm. Any business they have lost is at their own hands, not their baristas. This community has supported you for over 10 years and this is how you treat them…pathetic.

Out of Phoenix, Roasted, and Rising Star… nothing beats Rising Star. Trust me. I’ve been coming here multiple times a week for over 4 years now. The staff has remained relatively the same in that time and they are all so friendly (new employees are too). Rising Star makes all of their syrups in house unlike Roasted- Rising Star also uses minimal ingredient oat milk unlike Phoenix and Roasted which use big name brands that have additives and chemicals. Don’t get me wrong, Phoenix also makes all of their syrups from scratch and is filled with great employees. I just prefer minimal ingredient plant milks. I feel good knowing when I drink a latte from Rising Star I’m drinking something that isn’t processed and filled with junk.

I do miss when they had Floressa baked goods. They now sell Philomena which I doesn’t compare in quality or taste and is overpriced. Regardless, the next time you go to roasted for the atmosphere and end up dumping your coffee out because it takes like milk and garbage- I hope you find your way to...

first, let me say, the coffee is great. they have great drinks and they make them well. however, every time i have been to this location my order somehow gets lost, or mixed up, or forgotten about. i watched 4 people that were behind me get their drinks before someone asked if i needed help with anything even though i was standing there waiting for my drink lol. they always make it up to me and i’ve scored a few free drinks / drinks they made wrong, but i wish the communication behind the bar, or the process of communicating what someone ordered and who they are was better. i don’t order anything over the top either, i usually order a drink right off the menu. this also happened to my friends when i took them to rising star for the first time and i felt bad because i felt like i didn’t take them to best place because their drinks also got made wrong / forgotten about. really i just hope to see that aspect of this location improve, but other than that, if you’re in lakewood, they have really good coffee that...
