Humble Wine Bar — Restaurant in Lakewood

Changing the review after one year if not more. We were coming here often but tonight the manager / weitress was completely out of line.

First off, we had to wait for her twice for 15 minutes, between bringing the drinks and appetizers. Then we ordered a pizza that had meat in it - we have dietary restrictions and I can't eat that. The meat was not specified in the description (the pepperoni was not listed at all) and we also didn't notice the v mark next to the vegetarian pizzas. When we told her about the problem, she fully blamed us, saying that we have to pay for it and that's the policy. Then we asked if she can take it to the kitchen to fix it or bring us a box. She took the pizza in the back with full attitude and threw it!!!!!! Then we went to pay up front, and someone from the kitchen noticed the tension and sarcastically waived and said have a good night. It just kept going. Then the manager played the card saying that "she's a young woman and that's why he's acting this way". As my fiance tried to talk to her, she literally turns her back. Several times. We ended up paying for it but guess what. We are NEVER getting back there again. There are better pizza spots where service is impeccable.

Tried to go here for my girlfriends birthday on 11/05. There were 3 of us and we put our names down with the host or whichever server was assisting the host. We waited an hour and we were standing right next to the host stand hearing every name called. After numerous groups of people who came in after us were called I went to the host and politely asked why we hadn’t been called. Turns out they need better communication because they called the incorrect name. They did not apologize and in fact they tried to blame US for not hearing the INCORRECT name. At this point because they had sat groups that were behind us there were no tables left inside which we requested as it was cold/windy and they gave us the option to sit in a line at the bar which made it impossible for the 3 of us to have a conversation. We left and we will not be back. The staff could have saved the situation by being apologetic and owning up to their mistake, but sadly the staff here is rude and needs better customer service training. There are plenty of other amazing places in town to have pizza and wine. Do not waste your time here...

We tried this wine bar after querying Siri. The location inside layout was very nice. The pizza oven was central behind the long winding bar. The gentleman making pizza had been there five years and we watched as he made each pizza. He was a consummate artisan in that he took the time to assure each order was made to a high standard of quality. We had the frormaggio quatro and it went into the oven and came out with the cheese piping hot and the crust perfectly browned. He sprinkled on some herbs and garlic. It was a thin crust, but not too thin like a baked tortilla. Instead it was a higher consistency and slightly thicker and chewy. The crust combined with the cheeses and garlic, provided a perfect balance between the crust and toppings. Our waitress was very attentive and checked on us often. Sitting at the bar by the oven gave us a great view of the care and hand made grating of cheese and application of hand cut toppings that was not done as as assembly line, but with the effect to assure every order was perfect.
