I wanted to report an uncomfortable experience with a male staff member the evening of 2010’s music night at Mahall’s. My friend and I exited the club portion of the venue to use the bathroom. I asked a Mahall’s staff member in the lobby where the bathroom was for us to use. He said our options were either the bathroom in the lobby or up the stairs toward the Roxy side of the building. We went to the Roxy bathroom (the bathroom did not appear closed because all the lights were on, there was no signage or staff posted there to inform guests it was closed). I entered a stall and shortly after a different Mahall’s staff member came into the bathrooms and yelled at me to clear out (I was literally using the toilet) by pounding on the door of the stall I was using. He told me to hurry it up and get out of the bathroom. I exited the stall, washed my hands while the staff member was leaning against the wall, staring at me and told me again to hurry it up. I was dumbfounded at how rude the staff member was and how he treated me like I was doing something I should not have been.
It sounds ridiculous to say this but my friend and I were not drinking and we don’t use drugs, so there was no obnoxious, rude or otherwise suspicious behavior. We were literally just trying to use the bathroom.
This was my 3rd time at Mahall’s. The two prior visits were all within the past 6 weeks and prior to that night those were positive, safe experiences. That evening will be the last time I will attend an event at that venue. A situation where a staff member follows someone into the bathroom without an explanation (ie “hey sorry, this bathroom is closed right now” etc.) could be construed as predatory or profiling behavior. Neither is acceptable.
I contacted Mahall’s management to report this after it occurred, but never received a response after multiple attempts. I have escalated my concerns to a public location, but this is not my preferred method of addressing this issue. It was just my only option,...
Read moreI had never been here before but have wanted to check it out for awhile and then read that our recent storm burst a pipe and this local spot had some damages and needed to shut parts down. The bar/restaurant remains but I thought it was important to go and support them now more than ever.
Such an iconic place! Brunch is out of this world! We shared the brunch board which is EVERYTHING you could want all in one giant place! Not only that but literally everything is cooked to perfection, the waffles had a subtle sweetness to it, French toast perfectly cinnamony, the batter on the fried chicken crunchy but meat was tender and juicy inside, the bacon is chewy and savory. Ridiculousy good! Now, let me tell you about the staff… literally everyone we engaged was not only quick with what we wanted and needed, they were also very friendly, and seemed genuinely happy to be there and serving us. That’s not something you come across anymore. SUCH a good time! There’s a selfie station you can have some fun with on your way to the bathrooms too. There’s a lot to offer and you wouldn’t know it by just driving by. Go eat there! You will thank me! Oh, one more thing, the barstools are comfy AF too! Thanks for such a great time Nia, Ashley and all!...
Read moreMahall's makes impressive use of their Lakewood space with three joint, but unique offerings.
For close quarters, shoulder-to-shoulder jam sessions, their small but funky concert hall is more than suitable for hosting smaller up and coming artists, or providing ample opportunities to meet new people as a stylish mingling space with it's vibrant and moody lighting / decor.
As a center convergence point, their 360° bar / dining experience should tickle the tastebuds of those craving a limited selection of tried and true midwestern diner-esque grub. Vegan-friendly alternatives are also on-hand for each dish for an added $3 charge. The eatery also provides extra fun for the early risers with some craveable, albeit expensive, brunch offerings! Pricey, but inspired themed cocktails give bar goers 'Gram worthy photo opportunities and fun flavorful ways to get the party started.
Lastly the lanes! At $30 per lane per hour (up to 4 people per lane), it provides those that go in groups some decent value. While the hand-written score cards of old definitely add to the character and charm of the compact but inspired space, it can often mean a group may only experience one to two games per hour depending on...
