Came in on Memorial Day and ordered at 11:45 am, was warned that it would be a 40-45 minute wait. No problem there it was a group of three adults and one toddler so not a huge order, but they said they were busy. Inside was empty, but about 4-5 groups on the patio. After an hour went in to ask about our order, assuming it must be almost ready, was told it would be an ADDITIONAL 20-25 minutes, asked if we could get a discount since the wait is now twice what they told us originally and a cook came out of the back and was extremely rude saying they had told us there would be a wait. (45 minutes is fine, if we had been told an hour and a half we would have gone elsewhere). Asked them to bring the toddler's food immediately and cancelled the rest of our order, accurate communication from the beginning and some better customer service would have gone a long way. Will never be returning to this place, would recommend one of the other lovely restaurants within a block or two.
Editing to respond to the extremely rude response from the owner. Saying that we “vandalized” your property is ridiculous, lol, our toddler put three rocks in a plastic cup to keep herself entertained while we waited, and yes the macaroni and cheese that you provided ended up on the table some because the girl is 1.5 years old and is still working on her fine motor skills. Also, it sounds like you were well aware that the wait would have been more than 45 minutes so I’m confused as to why that wasn’t communicated to as at any point. Sounds like customer service is not your priority, especially after reading through the repeated rude responses that you post to anyone who doesn’t give you a...

We came to Lanesboro for the first time in the evening. We had dinner at another place in town as Home Sweet Home was closed. We planned to return the next day and were looking for a good lunch place. There are several nice dining choices in this very charming little town including this one. In this particular case, I was struck by the tone of the messages posted on the door. I ended up ruling the place out because of the "in your face" nature of the postings. I felt the message was a political one and not an informational one. I work in a place that serves people with a wide variety of disabilities that make mask wearing difficult. However, at our business, the postings in regards to masks are in line with CDC guidelines and accommodations are made on a case by case basis. I think simply stating that some employees have medical conditions that prevent mask wearing and reasonable accommodations for those employees have been put in place seem sufficient. I don't know the history here. There may be more to the story. I am not trying to pick a side. We are vaccinated and have no issue dining in places that do not require masks. After all, we are from North Dakota. However, there might be a way to say the same thing in a way that doesn't sound so aggressive. We do appreciate the effort to head off any mask shaming. Thank you for that as no one needs that regardless if you are...
Read moreEdit: Well, I was trying to be respectful about our experience, even though it was pretty bad. Since the owner wants to try and customer shame me for leaving a completely honest review, all I have to say is don’t waste your money at a crappy restaurant where they lie to you about how the food and drinks are prepared. I only chose to write a review because I didn’t want other people to go here based off of the rating and be as disappointed as we were. I would certainly recommend pedal pushers down the road, their food and service is definitely worthwhile.
We ordered off the lunch menu and asked if the lemonade was real homemade, it was not. They had a really good selection for hot tea, delish! The meat looked like it came out of a freezer after sitting for 3 years. We appreciated the small town restaurant and wanted to support it, but anything made at home would be better. The whole vibe of the restaurant didn’t really give the energy that the food was safe to eat. The grilled cheese, however, was delicious with good bread and yummy cheese. The onion rings and tater tots seemed almost reheated in an oven rather than freshly fried. The fruit cup was very good, however, I wonder if breakfast is better than lunch. I don’t want anyone to make the same mistake we did and spend money on a sub-par meal. Overall, the staff were kind and had good intentions, the sweet treats looked good, but the delivery of lunch was...
