1st review in a nutshell - Libraries have become, essentially, the living embodiment of the Statue of Liberty. "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free." In exchange for technological exclusivity: good computers (2 hr limit :( exceptions should be allowed & bring wipes), free Wi-Fi, up-to-date AMAZING tech rooms/equipment for DJ, multiple creative software + 3D printers, instruments, all engineering {sound, robotics, mechanical, etc.) & podcasting. Here's my new review... Locals & Visitors: most of the libraries that have this new equipment are difficult to get to if you don't drive a car. The libraries themselves are not located conveniently near public transportation, the locations are less then ideal for families, they are crowded with people who stay all day, and the classes are all in the evening! Safety??? Whatever the reason to put all the cool equipment in only these 2 particular places seems to have backfired. Those rooms with all that awesome stuff are empty during the day. People, like myself, who don't drive, but are educationally driven to learn new technology, seem to be out of luck. There are many fabulous libraries in Clark County and I have visited many. Each one is unique and is up to date with all the current library standards. They all have cool art, up to date children's areas, knowledgeable staff, and clean bathrooms!!!!! However research the location of the library before going. The library website is easy to navigate and you can find most things. Disclaimer: Calling and asking is recommended but if you get an answer that doesn't help, call back and try again. Many employees aren't native English speakers and each library has no idea what any of the others are doing or who works at them. The majority of the library staff is helpful and friendly. Lastly, if this is read by the Library staff, please revisit your technology & equipment distribution, please allow for many more daytime programs, and brainstorm about the current programming please, it needs a serious upgrade! Thank you to all the library personnel and all you deal with on a daily basis. Your patience is...
Read moreLibrary isn't a bad location but they have a couple of Hispanic male security here that like to cause problems and will tell people causing problems it's okay to do and people that are victims to these people they have to be subject to these people. There is a older white male security that works here and it seems on days he works the library is a lot calmer and safer, when these Hispanic security are here people cause problems and they act like it's okay. There are complaints of them hanging around men's bathrooms, I have been sitting down doing things on my phone and they will come up and stand close to and stare at you and try to act like they're not doing anything. There's Hispanic females that clean the bathroom and they hang around the bathrooms when women go in or try to cut it off if they think someone is trying to use the bathroom. Today I sat at one of the tables in the front, this psychotic guy who was using all the chargers on one side if the table that only has two outlets git irritated when I sat down and when I asked for a outlet he started screaming at me. There's several people seeing him do this, even the front desk I ask for security and the Hispanic security come up. They try to act like I'm doing something when this man is hollering at me the whole and won't stop. The man leaves after to continuing to holler but they try to act like I'm doing something instead of enforcing library rules and telling the man to stop or leave which they don't do. They try to act like I'm doing something even though the man continues to holler even over them. You don't need security enabling problems instead of stopping it and allowing people to cause problems that's the opposite of what they're supposed to do. I don't want to come in here anymore because a lot of people act like that and it crowded with homeless and they act territorial and get hostile when they can't get their way. If this doesn't stop someone should sue the library fir harassment because it is a public library and people should be able to come in here without dealing...
Read moreIt's a nice library, it is in a residential area, so there are lots of kids there. They open at 10:00 and close at 8:00, except fridays they close at 6:00. The computer room is nice and spacious. There is a...I guess you would call it a, deli, that you can buy food, snacks and beverages. They have multiple areas where you can lounge and read comfortably. There is a recording studio. How ever there are many books. There is one side on the bottom floor with books. I find it odd for a library. They have a career center, as well as activities for the kids. There as many DVDs, and CDs as there are books. They have copier and fax machine( not sure of prices). But I know for certain it cost ¢10 per page if you print anything out. The restroom is spacious and mostly clean( unless you come in during after school hours). They have self checkout for checking things out . There are a few security guards at the entrance and walking around both outside and inside. There are benches set up outside ( not all of them in the shade) with gray boxes next to them. These are charging ports.. so far I've only gotten the three closest to the building to work. Also they have charging lockers (with assorted ports) inside. They also have a drop box outside as well as a deli walk up window . The benches closest to the parking lot is reserved for ppl who smoke. Your supposed to get WiFi outside in the parking lot I'm not sure though, because if your sitting at a bench and your too far from the building you will not get it. You can log on to the Las Vegas library website and place books and movies on hold they will send an email when it's ready for pick up. The staff are very nice and helpful. You will see a couple homeless ppl but they don't...
