For a shelter that needs people to adopt their pets, they sure are uninterested in giving them to people who want them. These pets can be sick and they WILL send you home with them sick. I have a pet that had pre-existing conditions when I adopted her. She's a cat. They gave her to me and said nothing was wrong. When we got home, her breath was smelling kind of bad. We thought it was just the smell of the animal foundation, since all of our pets had a smell to them when we got them. It got worse a month later. We thought her papers said "1 year old". She was 7 on her official papers! We love her, but it would have been nice to know. She has dental issues, and they won't cover the fees. However, we are working on getting her dental.
I write this review for multiple reasons, but primarily for what I'm about to say:
We went to the AF to adopt a kitten, but saw it would not only be cheaper to adopt 2, but we wanted to get one each for us. I was living with my mother at the time we adopted our first few. They were beautiful. 2 years later, both passed away from different causes at two different times. One passed due to a UTI, which was tragic. They would ask us to drop a couple of thousands for an immediate surgery. We couldn't afford it. They took him away and euthanized him without telling me, and I didn't get to say goodbye. The second cat passed when we were in the parking lot of an animal hospital that refused to see is "because they were full" when we had just came to them to check him out. He died in the backseat. It mentally broke me. Then, my mother's cat ran away after the last one passed away after being severely depressed for months. No, this is not me blaming them for their demise. This is for context. When we tried to adopt 2 kittens, the woman who was helping us was not only taking her time to help us get checked out after waiting hours, but came back with skepticism. She questioned if we had missing flyer posters for the last cat on us when we had just told her that the first two were a while ago... meaning YEARS ago, and we already informed them of their passing. They euthanized one of them there and we called to see if they could help the other before his passing (once again two very different dates of their passing). They would not. I would tell you why, but honestly, it was years ago (around 2020) and it was brief. I was in a panic and was trying to get him help. I told her I did not think to keep a flyer for him, and when we called and they said they would let us know if he was found, we posted them all over our neighborhood, but no one called. We think someone else picked him up, as our neighborhood is full of stray cats. That cat was a gift to my mom, and she took very good care of him. So, after we went back and forth, and she kept walking to the back to talk to a "manager", she told us it was suspicious because they had passed and "they weren't informed". We got him during the pandemic. We looked everywhere for him for along time. He never came back, and she was BROKEN. Before he vanished, this foundation had us bring him back because he was a "rehome to adopt" or whatever the term was and, because she could keep him, she went to get him neutered, because they did not do so before we left. My mother kept waiting once she dropped him off in his box, and they brought him back out and said "Just take him". She was crying the whole time and was really happy he could just go home. She, the woman "helping", basically acted as if we were unfit for taking care of cats and hinted we were killing them. Not just that, she also insinuated that we never brought him back upon their request, when I MISSED WORK FOR IT, because it "wasn't in their records". She also said we "illegally rehomed him and didn't inform them" (we were living in the same home). When we started living in separate places, he stayed with her. The woman left and came back, then said we could only get one cat, and if we "have any more incidents, then we will have to be looked into". We were...

This place is so unorganized and lacks customer service and proper operational management, amongst other things. They do everything possible to make the adoption process painful!!
A volunteer told us to go down the hall, stand in line to check-in first so we could start looking at dogs. We were also told to get the placard with dog details and come back to checkout. Wrong!!! We had to wait in line twice just to check out because Anna, the supervisor said that we stepped out of the line. I told her that we were just taking the placard back for them since they were busy. I also told her My sister in law was saving my spot since she was adopting cats- which btw she was advised she has to stand in line separately for each cat, fyi. When we returned from putting the placard back, they wouldn't help us! After waiting for almost an hour to check in, Anna told us we didn't have to do that but since we stepped out we have to get back in line to adopt. I asked for a manager and she said she was the only one in charge.
Since my son Fell In Love with Cliff, a black lab, we waited in line another 40mins just to visit and bond. Ann, the volunteer was EXTRAORDINARY!! She even thanked us for saving Cliff's life because he really needed a home. This was the only good part of the day. We đ U ANN! Thank YOU for everything you do!!!
We went back to the front desk to check out and were advised it would be another 3-4 HOURS to finalize paperwork and we have to come back in 3 days to pick up our new family member. She proceeded to call me sweetie and rolled her eyes once she noticed my frustrations.
I live 45mins away. We got a text saying we had 30minutes to come back or the dog would be released- first time we're told this! Took 50mins with traffic, making me 20mins late. I was at the front desk when Avery, the receptionist texted and verbally confirmed they released my dog and adoptions are closed- even though the people after me were still sitting there waiting to go next. Avery smirked when I asked for a manager and said it was my fault for not getting there in time and rules are rules.
My son started tearing up and walked away while I tried talking to Megan, another supervisor in charge. I explained everything almost in tears. She basically didn't care about ANYTHING THAT HAPPENED to my son that day and started showing me text time stamps instead. Her only concern was to prove that I was in the wrong for not getting there in time.
Not ONE paid employee cared about my son, his emotional adoption experience, Cliff who hadn't been adopted in weeks, or making Anything right!!
My son's first dog adoption experience- who btw we were going to train as his emotional support buddy- has been completely ruined by frustrated, incompetent, and purely apathetic PAID employees!
Do better Clark County!!
I don't understand how they call themselves Service Providers. They're certainly not doing anything on their part to make these memorable moments, GOOD memorable. Instead they inject their negative energy onto other people's days to ruin moments just because they themselves are miserable.
To conclude: After our Dr. appt the next day, I was informed Cliff was no longer available. At least, he found a home... Also, after leaving him a voicemail, I never received a call from Christian, "their manager."
*FYI, I made these employees write their names and advised them I would be filing a complaint- they are aware.
If I could give them a negative rating, I...
