This is a must go-to place for anyone interested in Las Vegas history. The displays in the visitor center were well done and the information video offered in a small theater was very good. There is a reconstructed creek so you could get an idea of the fort’s water source. The displays in the fort were nice but could’ve been executed with more information for those that wanted additional details. The restrooms were clean. The Fort complex is above the visitor center and is the only developed way to get there is via an outdoor staircase. I visited on a robust knee scooter, and a dirt pathway was pointed out to me. It was not easy to manor and I am fit and well practiced with the scooter. I think most would have a very hard time with a wheelchair, which is unfortunate. Once on top, the dirt was rather loose which meant a few surprise holes not apparent just by looking where you are going. Also, there were only 2 handicap parking places, but a Ranger truck was parked in one of them! It didn’t have a handicap placard! So beware if you have mobility difficulties. There is a nice but limited gift shop inside the visitor center.

We all enjoyed the Old Mormon Fort. For $3 a person too it was really cool. There's an informative video about the history of the fort and how it shaped Las Vegas. There isn't much to see, but still a cool place to visit. The creek inside is artificial but filled with fish, as the old creek was dammed up (see the video). Was cool to walk around and see the contrast of the 1850's to Las Vegas today as right outside the fence is city. Outside there's also a Tortoise named Helen Shelly. If you're a Fallout fan the museum has a little shrine to the game as well as a few gift shop items. We also bought some postcards. There is also a very cute employee in Ranger Whiskers. The cat was friendly and we were able to pet it, but I'd ask permission from the Park Ranger first as the cat is feral.

We enjoyed this museum and historical building site. Adequate parking area, and friendly staff on site. Open Tues-Sat, 8-4ish. Admission fee required, small gift store and some light snacks available for purchase. Public restrooms for visitors to this state park. Indigenous artifacts, history of the fort and adobe structure. Informative 15 minute video that can be watched, in their small theatre area. Other Las Vegas historical information about the beginning settlers who came to the Las Vegas valley area starting in the 1800's. A nice way to spend the morning or afternoon.

This place is a hidden gem. For a small 3 dollar admission fee, it's a good way to spend about 1.5 hours. When you first go inside, definitely ask about the scavenger hunt. It's really fun and you end up learning things you thought you already knew. There's so much to see here, including the oldest building in las vegas, and they have a koi pond! At the end of your trip, you can pick from their assortment of moderately priced souvenirs. (My son and niece picked a bunch of different rocks and a bracelet and some flavored honey sticks) We will definitely visit again! 😊👌👍

Been eyeballing this place to visit for quite some time now. This historical place was definitely a neat one to finally get to visit. We didn't wander and spend as much time as we wanted here but it was great in the time we had before closing. The area was clean and the gal at the counter was absolutely wonderful. Not only did she have tons of knowledge to answer our questions, but she was friendly as could be, and even took us out in the rain to go see inside the fort room. Staff 5 stars. History 5 stars. Experience 5 stars. We will definitely be back.
