BUYER BEWARE My wife and I went after seeing several posts on Instagram regarding things to do in Vegas. We bought tickets in person, were told we had to discard our drinks we had just purchased before arriving, were told no cameras besides cell phones - they even had a "bag/purse" sizing station as if you were at the airport. Upon heading into the viewing area, we quickly realized that it was EXTREMELY small, and the vast majority of the signs WERE NOT LIT (later we were told this was a work in progress...). We very quickly turned around and went back to the ticket desk only 7 minutes after the time stamped on our tickets (this included 5 minutes of standing outside drinking our drinks before throwing them away as instructed. We approached the desk and spoke to the same staff member (a male who said he had the most authority on site at the time) that we purchased the tickets from, I advised him that we very quickly realized this was not what we believed it to be and requested a refund. This began a 10 minute back and forth of the smug staff member telling me "No refunds, as this is a non-profit, we thank you for your donation however" with a smirk on his face. I explained we had been gone all of 7 minutes, 5 of which were wasting our non-alcoholic drinks, had taken no photos, and advised that he could check the cameras to confirm we had not actually partaken in their 'attraction'. He then stated "on the website it says no refunds", I advised him that I hadn't gone to the website, but I did speak with him face to face prior to purchasing the tickets - why was I not advised no refunds at the time? After 10 minutes of back and forth he finally conceded to offer me a refund. I left with a ticket indicating the refund had been processed - however upon checking my credit card statement, I noticed they refunded only PART of the fee and not the entire ticket price.
It is unacceptable to have to debate this long when there was no stated terms of "no refund" prior to buying, when it was evident we did not view their signs, and when all of the points made were valid (lack of signs lit, small area, tour guide blocking the entire path). If I was willing to take "NO" for an answer, I would be out even more money.
While I understand they cannot meet the expectations of all guests, it was extremely unprofessional to be treated so poorly by their supervisor after obviously not partaking in any of the sites / walks and politely asking for a refund with valid reasons.
If you want to partake, understand that approximately less than 25% of the signs are lit (being generous), and it is no more than a small U shaped alley way on a small footprint lot (don't take my word- check Google satellite).
Overall, I can excuse the lacking venue as perhaps I was expecting more than it was, but I cannot excuse the extremely poor customer service and ultimately, what I consider theft by not receiving the agreed...

Read moreWas able to walk here from the Golden Nugget which was nice. Only takes about 10-12 minutes and that's for a 65 yr old man. Only thing was that it was during the day in early April which was surprisingly hot. Take water with you if you do so.
I love neon and have since I was a kid so it was a given that I had to go here. This is a nice outdoor museum and the staff is very friendly. They even have senior discount which was a bonus. Now it would have been better to see the signs in the evening, but the admission is quite a bit more and it's still fun to see the old signs up close plus they're still lit up during the day, just harder to see.
One sign they have that brought back memories was the one from the old Desert Rose Motel. No neon left on it, but it was still cool to see. When I was just a kid, my parents and I drove through LV as part of a long road trip to LA to see an uncle of mine. We stayed there because my parents weren't gamblers and didn't want to pay extra to stay in one of the resorts. For those who don't know, the Desert Rose was located on what was the far south end of the strip. We still drove the strip at night to see all of the lights which was awesome.
Anyway, while the museum is not very big, it does have a great selection of signs that includes ones like part of the old Stardust (always loved that one) and some original Golden Nugget signs. The best one, as far as working and lit up, is the Hard Rock Cafe sign. It's the tallest one there. The signs are not just from the hotels, but also from other classic businesses from the day.
For those who don't want to or can't go, the museum sponsors a few of the old signs at various spots along the strip (some are out front of the museum itself) which you can enjoy for free.
If you're a fan of neon, it's worth a visit to...
