Read moreOnce we knew the Fremont Street reopening date, me and my husband we were ready to taste the great tacos flavor again at EL BUEN PASTOR, but when I entered to the local before we start the order, I immediately noticed a bunch of dust on the floor (inside the preparation area by the fridge), I just skipped it, I made my order and I waited aside for someone in charge of cleaning the dining area but when I realize that just three employees were working (one taking orders and restocking sauces and sides at the same time, another helping in the preparation process and the cook running to complete all the orders) I knew that nobody won't do it, I grabbed a napkin with sanitizer that they have by the register and cleaned by myself, I saw a lady yelling at the employees, complaining about a lot of things, I think she was the person in charge (MOD) but she wasn't doing anything to help them. I really don't know if they just opened that day, but my complain goes to the owner, because as owner you should know your business completely, you had almost 3 months to clean every single inch and at least 1 week to get ready for all the supplies that probably you would need plus the enough employees to keep clean and safe your place. I feel sorry just for the employees and me as a costumer, I hope that my next stop there would be better than this one.
Notes: *One red/orange sauce deliciously spicy. *Traditional red sauce missing. *Green sauce without flavor...
Read moreUnless you live close by, this is not the kind of place you'll think of driving to for tacos. Let's call it for what it is - it's a taco truck parked on the lot of an old gas station/tire store. But you know what else it is? Genuine street tacos.
This place doesn't rely on any pretentions to draw customers. The only thing that brings people here is the quality of the tacos you get here, and maybe the price. This truck is up there with other favorites among the Mexican community, e.g., Tacos El Gordo, or Taco y Taco. However, my Mexican friends fight over which of those two places are better - I've never heard anyone dispute that Taqueria El Buen Pastor is one of the best places in town for real-deal tacos.
To be honest, you may feel a little uncomfortable while you wait for your food. The truck is on the edge of the closest thing Las Vegas has to a Skid Row, but every time I've gone here, the other patrons have been friendly. After all, you're all in this together - you're all members of the Taqueria El Buen Pastor fraternity. In reality, my bet is that you're perfectly safe here.
Word of advice: The corner isn't great for finding parking, so don't miss the entrance to the parking lot. It's a bot tricky to get in and out of, so if you aren't expecting it, you'll likely miss it.
So do yourself a favor, get out of your comfort zone a bit, and try some of the best tacos...
