We are giving this store a one star rating because of obvious prejudice. My husband and I have been customers for many years but after today we refuse to give them our business. Upon walking in to shop my husband was followed by employees and was watched while he was trying to Shop. Never have either of us even remotely considered shoplifting and yet every time either of us go in to shop together or separately we are followed and peeked on from behind other aisles as if we were kleptomaniacs. Furthermore, when asked about anything we are looking for the immediate answer is an angry "NO we don't have that." OK so i thought I would ask for something i know they have, that is right in the glass case, in plain view of the person I was asking, the owner. I saw there was an ample supply of ladies perfume and asked if he had any ladies perfume...the answer? A furious NO we don't have any perfume. I pointed to the perfume and he had absolutely no response. It is obvious that our business is simply tolerated but not welcomed. We just really don't understand the behavior of the owners and employees at this store. The owner and his wife should consider another occupation that does not involve retail customer service because they are very obnoxious and rude to only white people. So we have convinced 24 of our friends of all races to shop at U.M.O.K. a block down that carries similar inventory,...
Read moreIt's 9AM...I have never been in this store before, and I have had a curiosity about what sort of things this place might have. So, I see that both their doors are open wide, and their OPEN/CLOSED sign is flipped to the open side... As I am walking in, I am taking in the various old furniture, and it looks like this 2nd hand furniture has been kept up, real nice... Anyways, I was only several steps in, when this following interaction took place: "HEY! We're closed!"
Oh... I'm sorry. I saw that both the doors were open, and your open sign was indicating you were open.
"YEAH? Well, we aren't open!"

The gentleman at Emma's Closet, was extremely discourteous towards me, and he displayed a demeanor that left much to be desired. I meant no harm in walking into a place an hour before it actually opens up... I don't know if this review will be read by the owner, or the gentleman who I interacted with, but if they do read this, I urge them to be more disciplined in their approach to good customer service. We have been super friendly and killed with kindness the owners, because we do like to go in there often to buy stuff as we do live around the corner, but it doesn't matter.
