I have been supporting LPAC for many years, from the yearly subscriptions to the various venues. I am this venue at least seven times a year AND I never had a problem but today is not a great day for LPAC. I have a valid handicap ♿️ placard issued by DMV in MY name due to a chronic respiratory disease, which prohibits me from walking far distances without stopping. I arrived at the venue early at 4:15pm( mind you showtime is 6pm and VIP, which i have tickets for is 5pm, BTW you did not let us in until 515pm) for the Jamaican Independence Celebration in hopes of being able to park in the County/State (not venue) designated handicap parking spot right in front of the door and not in the main parking lot. Arriving early is something that I personally do to ensure that I can get a spot which is comfortable to me, because my condition is my responsibility and no one elses. I was stopped by a polite young lady that advised me that I could not park there because it was reserved for VIP (stage performers and the Mayor and commissioners for Lauderhill). Wait, what did you not know this is illegal for a venue to deny someone with a handicap placard the right to park in a designated spot. I parked in the main parking lot, walked to the young lady and said "Her boss Mikey told her so" I left her went to another nice gentleman told him what happened, he agreed with me that that was not legal to prohibit/deny a handicap spot to anyone that has a placard. He immediately called Mikey and told him what happened and MIkey responded(without coming outside to check) that all the handicap spots were full in the front, when indeed it was not, there were three spots open.. The gentleman I was speaking with told Mikey it was open and it wasn't until then I was allowed entry. LPAC your first mistake was to hire a company that is not familiar with ADA parking statues. I need someone from the city to contact me to tell me how do you allow this to happen at one of the only venues you have that brings entertainment to the city of Lauderhill. A formal complaint will be made with the ADA and the city of Lauderhill...
Read moreI saw West Side Story there last night. First the show. It was really well done especially for a regional production. Live music, played by a really good Orchestra. Those guys sounded way bigger than they were. State-of-the-art sound, and Lighting. The LEDs make all the difference, especially in that lovely little dance scene at the gym between Maria and Tony. The way the lights are able to isolate the principles is exceptional especially for regional theater. To the reviews that put down the sound all I can say is I don't know if we were visiting the same place. Sound was great. This is not converted movie house. It was a specially built for live entertainment and it does its job well. Everybody who sees this show is watching the birth of a new young Star. Alexa Lopez is absolutely and unequivocally brilliant. She's one of those rare talents they come along once every 50 years. I read her bio, and at 17 she came close to getting the role in the Broadway Revival that's opening next month. She was asked to return for the third and final call back. A voice like an angel, powerful and strong. Acting skills that rival anybody that you've seen in the movies. I have seen this show 5 times before on stage, along with the movie that I've probably seen 20 times I have yet to see an actress portray Maria with the feral ferocity that Alexa Lopez did after Tony was shot. Bravo to that young woman. She will be a star.
Just a quick shout out to the people that work there. Everybody is so friendly and genuinely nice. This is a theme that seems to be pervasive in the reviews I've read about this theater. They enhance the experience. AND, as somebody, else mentioned, the coffee IS great!! 😉👌When you go bring a jacket. The AC works really well. I've already bought tickets for Beauty and the Beast and will be returning in a couple of months. With the Stage Door theater closing there is a desperate need for good regional theater in this area. The Lauderhill Center is off to a...
Read moreMy husband, and i attended a concert on 02/18/2020 Regina Bell. Freddie Jackson, and a local group. The local group rocked the house, biut Regina Bell had no band, or music She sang other peoples songs, but only 2 of her own. She really didnt do a good jpb, she hopped across the stsge . Freddie Jackson sang in this weird voice while singing. He did sing his songs, but he didn't do a good job of it. I reslize he's ill, but if your not going to bring your A game, please stop taking peoples money, and giving a poor perf to rmance. The Performing Arts Center really had no food (popcorn, hotdogs that they kept running out of, and pretzels), but they had plenty of alchohol 🤔. I will never attend that place ever again. The concert started late, because they, for some reason had to thank all theses people. I was there for a concert, not an awards ceremony. I feel as though The Lauderhill Performing Arts Center...
