I was in Plantation, FL visiting a relative and thought about making a quick trip to Localicious Caribbean Ice Cream in Lauderhill, FL.
I've been hearing about this sweet spot since last year and this time I had to make it happen. This is a cozy, fun colorful spot located in a small shopping center.
They have unique popular Caribbean flavors such as Eggnog Rum, Ginger Bulla, Toasted Coconut, Kola Champagne, Bun & Cheese, Coffee Rum, Sangsters Rum, So Bailey's Almond Fudge, East Indian Mango, Sorrel Rum, Banana Bread Rum and soooo much more! Flavors rotate. They also have sorbet and vegan ice cream such as Pina Colada.
The prices are a little steep if you plan to get one scoop which is almost $8. I chose four scoops for $16.91. The more scoops the less. Despite what the reviews say, customer service was good. Maybe it was a good day. Hahaha
I had the following: Papaya Rum - Light papaya flavor. I tasted no rum.
Pineapple Rum Cake - I hardly tasted the pineapple nor rum.I did taste the cherry! lol
Mango Rum - I liked this one the most b/c I could taste some of the mango....no rum flavor again.
Island Pound Cake - You could taste pieces of cake and vanilla flavor.
Overall Thoughts.... Lovvvve the variety of Caribbean flavors! This unique place has potential but it's not there yet for my liking. I like rich and complex tasting ice cream where every bite tastes oh sooo special.
The ice cream texture is creamy yet it may be a little too soft/runny. Rum flavors need either real rum or more rum. I did not taste any rum at all. The papaya and mango flavors need to stand out more. I thought the four scoops (four different flavors) would have been served laid out like a banana split. Sooo not the case. They're packed all in one container on top of each other. This is not great packaging for customers.
FYI, no pretty ice cream photos due to packaging.

Read moreI was looking forward to going here as I saw it on Tiktok. I regret going. It was by far the worst customer service I’ve ever had in icecream in the USA.
I’m Jamaican and I’m embarrassed. No one greeted anyone as they entered and it was not packed
A sign had “limited” samples due to being “very busy”- you could hear crickets in there
I was given the wrong flavor when I asked for one to sample , I asked for honey Irish moss and I was given ginger bulla
No smiles, no laughter they looked like they didn’t want to even be there
The buckets looked dirty, I did not end up getting any ice cream- it didn’t look sanitary
When I was ordering, they RUSHED me and told me I needed to decide on ALL THE FLAVORS AT ONCE (my friend was ordering 3 for 3 people (not me)) in 2 minutes , she literally said “we have people waiting so you need to decide NOW “
I asked a question- No one responded to me; I had to “PSST” to get a response.
They look like they didn’t want to be there at all. Was all business
My friends for soursop and Appleton’s rum cream - it never taste good at all to me , average to say the least and it was very very soft
The sample was super small
I’d never go back. I would never recommend there
It was in a super sketchy run down place , so just heads up- that’s no shade but I didn’t know that- people hanging out on the corner, unsolicited men telling me “cheese”.
One scoop is $7.95 and $1 extra to use credit card. That is way too expensive for that
They didn’t have bun and cheese flavor
This isn’t for me but maybe for others. I’ll continue to go to other icecream places.
Clearly my business is not valued here. I hope the owner can do better as they have potential- however the customer Dr rude is so...
Read moreI know we always say that if the customer service in a Jamaican establishment is bad, then the offerings must be great. Well this place certainly lived up to that. The server was the most stiff-faced unwelcoming woman I've encountered in a while! It took her ages for her to acknowledge us in the completely empty store (admittedly she was busy doing God knows what, but a "welcome to our store, I'll be right with you" wouldn't have hurt).
After we paid for our 3 ice creams my husband requested an extra spoon, to which he was told it would be 25 cents for it. With a sour face and a sour tone. As I searched my purse for a quarter, I happened to look up at her stone faced expression, and closed my wallet. I took my 3 creams and my 2 spoons and left the shop. I understand inflation is a problem these days and everyone is trying to make an extra dollar here and there, but charging me extra for the spoon and then to add insult to injury, after my 5 year old was done eating her giant ice cream cone, when I opened the paper bag to grab a napkin, there was only one. Not one of those square napkins either. It's the thin rectangular one that has no use after one wipe. We bought 3 ice creams! You gave a small child a large cone! Who gives one napkin for all of us to use???? The whole exchange just left a sour taste in my mouth.
No one is asking for laughter or skin-teeth. Don't even need to smile. But geez man....
(I won't even begin to wonder why her personality improved considerably when we walked out and the 3 Caucasian customers walked in. No sir, I won't. And me and my family bathe and tidy, so we never look pop down sah)
The vegan strawberry ice cream was really...
