Tier Couture Bakery — Restaurant in Lawrenceville

The worst experience! Placed an customize order for 3 tier vanilla on vanilla cake 3wks prior to event. Was told by the cashier that the baker would call me later that day to further discuss the details and changes for the cake. The baker didn’t call until 1 1/2week later. I missed the call and called back a few hrs later, to find out the baker is not at the shop and will return my call. Again, no call back for a couple of days. I finally got ahold of the baker via her cell phone. We discussed the changes and she said she would have the cake ready by 11:30 on 10/6 (event date). I was at Tier Couture at 11:32. Cashier told me that “they are boxing up the cake, it’ll be a few minutes. 15mins went by and another cashier came to me asking for the balance. I said well I would like to see the cake first. Simultaneously I asked about the flyer they have posted which said show us your Google review, get 10% off your order. I asked can I apply this as I had the flyer in my hand. She went in the back and I guess told the baker who stuck her head out to get a visual of me and then said “oh no that’s not for cakes”. Not to make an argument I said ummm ok, but was thinking it doesn’t specify the items available for 10% Google review discount ( I also took picture of that flyer). The cashier came back to the front where I was standing and said “it’ll be a few more mins, some more things are being added”. I looked at my watch and it’s now 12:00pm. I advised the cashier I have another appointment and will be back. I returned at 1:30 and they present me w/ a cake that had what looked like chocolate marks on the top. I asked if the cake was chocolate as I ordered vanilla. She said no it’s the fondant ganache. I was pressed for time and didn’t ask what was ganache. They also have a contract that must be signed after picking up the cake to say more or less they are relieved from any wrongdoing. I’m sure something previously happened. At the cake cutting I found out that the ganache she used was dark chocolate under the fondant. My guest are allergic to chocolate, that’s why I ordered vanilla! To top it all off the cake was dry and overall a complete waste. I see why they have the Google flyer at the register so people can get an instant 10% discount prior to tasting the item and Tier Couture reviews make them look like a competitor! The lack of communication, professionalism and poor quality of this cake is ridiculous! I have shared this review on many sites and talked about it to people with photos. If I could give a zero rating I sure would!

Look for the photos of cake, dark chocolate ganache and the Google flyer. I will also attach my order form which shows vanilla on vanilla!

UPDATE: As of today, 10/25/18 I received a call from the baker two days after posting this review. She apologize and offered a “percentage refund” back and another cake free of charge. She asked if I could come in and she can provide me cash or she can mail a money order. I accepted her apology and stated no thank you on the cake order and per her request provided my address to mail the money order. The “percentage refund” has not...

My mom and I ordered a cake for my daughter’s first child, my first grandchild and my mom’s first great grandchild baby shower. My daughter really wanted this beautiful and simple cake. It had a little baby elephant cookie on top of a white cake that had a ruffle look and inside she wanted lemon and raspberries layered in the cake. It had a simple pink ribbon and bow round the cake. We called Tier couture bakery because they had such great reviews. I asked them if they could make it, they said yes. I asked if they could make the little elephant cookie on top, they said yes. Then I asked if the could make a mom and papa elephant to go with the baby. They said yes, no problem. They said they could do all of this. That was on Jun 21 and we needed it by July 9. We communicated back and forth throughout this time. The cake was about $265 ish. The day they brought the cake to our house it was raining really bad so I gave them extra time( 11:30) because the shower wasn’t until 12. They showed up 5 mins before the shower. My mom met them at the door to get the cake. When they showed her the cake she was horrified.. The cake was starting to fall apart and the ribbon on the bottom was so thin and small. The ruffles where breaking and pulling from the cake. And what broke our hearts were the elephants. They weren’t these cute pastel color cookies but cold plastic black elephants. The inside was thick and chunky with frosting, very little lemon and raspberry filling and it had a perfumey taste. It’s good. We threw a lot of the cake away. My mom and I were very upset. We felt lied to. We called them and voiced our unhappiness and disappointment. The cake looked so unprofessional. They refunded us $100. Customer service was good though. TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE!!!! Do NOT do business with these people! They have absolutely no level of professionalism! I ordered and paid for a cake for my Father’s 60th birthday party back in 2020 before the COVID pandemic occurred. We had to postpone the event due this and later rescheduled for 2021. Throughout the year and leading up to the event I texted several times to keep the bakery in the loop of the date changes. Once the date was finalized back in November of 2020. I let the bakery know of the new date. I later sent another message in March 2021 reminding the lady of the upcoming event on April 3rd. She asked if we’d received an invoice (like she hasn’t been receiving messages from me since the prior year). I stated once again yes we did and already paid. I sent the cake flavor and designs per request, delivery time, and location. On the day of the event I sent another text to confirm the 1:00pm delivery. Only to be told/asked that we were not on the calendar and that did we receive an invoice!!!???? Needless to say there was NO CAKE!! To make matters worse she was not very apologetic about the matter and offered no solution to the situation on the day of our fathers party! We paid $300+ for a cake we never received!
