Pinot's Palette — Attraction in Leawood

Very, very disappointed with the customer service (we were first-timers). Made plans with friends to attend Park Place's Holiday Open House. The website and social media flyer advertised $10 special drop-in at Pinot's Palette in Leawood to paint an 8x8 holiday painting 10am-5pm. We walked in just before 2pm. The place was practically empty, and we were greeted by an employee who was sitting down towards the back. She was painting, and did not even bother to get up to greet us. She all but said "what do you want". We advised her we were here to paint the $10 holiday painting. Annoyed and disinterested, she advised us they decided to end the special early, because they have classes coming in. We tried to explain what was advertised, but she could care less. So we left. Less than 10 minutes later, friends of ours went in and were able to paint the $10 Holiday Open House painting, because they had a "bigger group" (aka 1 more than we did). I am confused as to why we were turned away and treated the way we were. None of the advertisements listed the size of your party as a requirement. Being nationwide, I am sure Pinot's Palette is a decent company and would not encourage this type of customer service. I purchased a ticket to do this with my friends and unfortunately it happened to fall on one of the blizzard days. I was told the class was canceled and the crew I was going to paint with had to reschedule for a day that I was out of town. Since I had no interest in doing this on my own and only signed up for the community aspect of doing this with my girls, I was very disappointed that PP refused to refund my money. Having worked in customer service for 10+ years, I definitely didn't expect $20 to mean more to a company than a kind interaction. While I'm sure that down the road, had they not been so bent on keeping my money, I probably would've scheduled for another group of gals to do this as a treat. However, due to their lack of care and customer service, that will not be the case.

The roads were incredibly bad and pretty much every place in town was closed. I was told by the one setting up our group that you guys closed that night... which would make sense assuming PP had any care or concern for people's safety. Especially people driving 30+ min. Having been in customer service for over 9 years, I'm appalled by their refusal to refund my money. $20 is seemingly no biggie, but the principal behind it makes this all...

Had a girls night here. There are 2 spaces for groups. We got stuck in the back room and the AC wasnt working well at all. It uncomfortably warm and escape.

My other comment is why cram everyone into two tables and not spread out to all the available spaces? They put us so close together that there no room to put a drink down. Elbow to elbow. It was cramped and hot making for a long night.

Finally, I think we had a really challenging painting (I saw what the other group did and it was much simpler). Everyone managed ok but it could've been a lot more fun. My kids do this all the time and they love it. Personally I hated being told to paint this line or that without an explanation about technique. That's probably not the goal here but it enhance the...
