This place is not a restaurant, but man! Their food is so amazing! And this is just from trying out their chicharonnes with guacamole. The store is not huge. They only had 3 aisles. But, they were super clean and organized. The meat market is all the way in the back. With the left back corner as their prepared food area. Lively and welcoming atmosphere. You’re greeted first by the ladies up front. They were really nice and friendly, telling us about their specials.
For the chicharon with guacamole. 10/10. The guy at their prepared food counter even gave us generous chicharon samples! As a chicharon fan, I’ve tried a couple from different meat markets. And this one is by far the best I’ve had. The chicharon was season perfectly, not too salty. The texture was crunchy with the inside meat moist and tender. Compared to other meat markets where they’re crunchy because they were over fried to get that texture. The guacamole was also perfect. I like the fact that there was still crunch in the onions and tomatoes. Granted there was no heat from jalapeños, but I’m sure you can request for it to be more spicy. Oh my goodness. And after they prepared our chicharon guac cup order—it looked like a present! I was so happy! Will definitely be...
Read moreFirst off. I am gringo. But I know food. As soon as I came in I was greeted in Spanish but immediately that switched to English for me. To me this is special. I moved to San Antonio in 2011 and have never been welcomed in a meat market. They never attempt English with me and are always racist as if since I am gringo I should be shopping at H-E-B. They really catered to me and my needs.
The owners i assume were so personal. I’ve never had a personal shopping experience. But they literally took me to all the stations and answered all my questions no matter how small.
The male was as eager as me to show me the full pig and goat he sells. He sell the interesting stuff you won’t find at heb.
I am super impressed with the prices because it’s the same price as culebra meat market except you’re not buying it out of a big plastic trash can. At this place the professionally pack your order in a sanitary manner
I will be back for the chicharon...
