My wife and recently purchased a Miniature Yorkshire Terrier pup from the Petland Leon Valley location, and were are still beaming and totally ecstatic about the manner in which the entire staff treated us, and guided us through the entire process. Nina was the first associate in the store who saw and approached us. She was just extremely nice, engaging, friendly, cordial, patient, informative, forthcoming, very helpful in every way imaginable, and might we add very, very, very passionte about every single pup in the store. Her enthusiasm and commitment to us made my wife and I feel very comfortable and valued right away. Nina answered EVERY SINGLE QUESTION we posed to her...and she did so with the utmost joy, passion, and professionalism. She then introduced us to Laura, and we witnessed and received even more of the same qualities and attributes we had experienced with Nina. Laura was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, as she went into further detail about the things/topics Nina had discussed with us. It was evident from the onset that Laura was very passionate about all of the pups, and very educated and knowledgeable about everything related to Petland Leon Valley...itās vision, and itās mission. Not having any knowledge of our conversation with Nina, Laura picked right up where Nina left off, as my wife and I quickly noticed they were speaking the same, consistent language, and we loved it! Lauraās patience and willingness to be transparent with us about everything Petland, gave my wife and I an even deeper, better, and greater feeling about purchasing a pup from a pet store, as we had heard many horror stories over the years. This was our first pet store purchase of a pup, and it was phenomenal from start to finish...even after we took the pup home. Next, we met Jamie (The Store Manager) on that same day, and again, we were met with the same passion, friendliness, professionalism, joy, enthusiasm, knowledge, education, commitment, and patience we had received and experienced with Nina and Laura. Jamie was so helpful, so honest, so positive-speaking, so encouraging, and just so wonderful. My wife and I just kept looking at one another, and collectively agreeing that our experience that day was unprecedented by any other experience weāve ever had in a pet store. Finally, we met Krissie, and that was the icing on the cake for us. She brought our experience full circle that day, with her expanded knowledge of dogs, and animals in general. She was/is a walking text book of information, with which she is more than overjoyed to share with anyone who may have questions. Again, she mirrored the others with all the same qualities and attributes, and a warm and welcoming spirit. After we took our pup home, we had some slight health issues with him, as his blood glucose levels had fallen quite low. It was understandable, as he weighed a mere 2.4 lbs at almost 11 weeks of age. KRISSIE WAS AN ANGEL throughout the entire process, as she took calls from my wife, regardless of the time of day or night it was. She also called my wife to check the progress of our pups condition, and we were blown away by her commitment. What really set Krissie and Petland Leon Valley apart from any other experience weāve ever had with purchasing a pup from anywhere was when she took the initiative to contact the My Petās Vet Animal Hospital to arrange an appointment for our pup, before we could ever do it ourselves. When my wife contacted that Vetās office at 7:05am on Monday morning, she was told that Krissie from Petland Leon Valley had already made the appoint for us for 9:30am that morning. The entire staff at Petland Leon Valley made my wife and I feel like we were āthe most important people in the entire city of San Antonioā and we felt like we were receiving āking and queen-like treatment.ā Honestly speaking, thereās not enough good and great adjectives in our vocabularies to explain the wonderful experience we had purchasing our little pup from the folks at Petland Leon Valley. WHAT A WONDERFUL AND WELL PUT...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTerrible experience at the Leon Valley location. Inquired about a Havanese puppy there a few days ago online. The store responded with the info on the puppy. The website nor the email said you have to make an appt on weekends. My husband and I showed up at the store at 12:35pm on Saturday. Jaime, the manager, said that there was someone who had a 12pm appt to see the puppy and they were late. I said We are here now and serious buyers. She said we could make an appt for 1pm, but the other person went to the wrong location and was going to be even later. She told me she would call me if they didn't buy the puppy. At 1:45pm, Jaime called and said the other person didn't buy the puppy, but they were going to lunch to think about it. She said come in at 2:30pm to see the dog. I called her back and said we would be there at 2:45, bc we live a bit away. She said ok. I walked into the store at exactly 2:45pm. There was a woman there waiting for the man who walked in behind me. I walked over to the puppies and found Jaime. She finished with the person in front of me and then another woman walked in front of me. Jaime said Uh oh, we have a dilemma. I knew the woman who walked in front of me was the earlier appt from 2 hrs ago. Jaime decided to let that person see the dog again and completely dismissed our appt. The woman ended up buying the dog. 2 hrs of our Saturday completely wasted for a woman who was an hour late for her appt (what's the point of appts if you don't keep them??) and then the person never called and said she was coming back like she was supposed to. The CORRECT way to handle it was to tell the other woman that she originally said no and that we were there for OUR scheduled appt ON TIME and that she would have to wait for us to decline buying him before she could buy him. Instead we lost out on the puppy. This location is a disaster! When I told Jaime there was no info about mandatory appointments on the website or in the email that was sent to me, she said a 3rd party deals with the website and used covid as an excuse. Covid had nothing to do with her poor management skills. It was a management issue NOT a pandemic issue. Terrible customer service, terrible problem solving, poor communication and I will NEVER buy from this store. Jaime is a poor excuse for a manager. It's interesting how their Facebook page doesn't let you leave reviews. That is always a red flag...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI walked into Petland on Monday, May 21st & I feel in love with the sweetest little male Pomeranian puppy. After about an hour of being at Petland and playing with him, My family & I knew he needed to be apart of our family. We spoke with employees about purchasing him & they informed us that he did have a runny nose. They said because of the runny nose he could not come home yet but we could put down a deposit and on Wednesday he would see the vet for a check up. They did call on Wednesday to tell us he needed to stay a week so they could keep an eye and make sure he doesn't develop a respiratory infection. Okay that's fine his health is important plus this gives me time to buy everything I needed, which I did. I was telling friends and family that I was getting a puppy from Petland and was looked down upon & didn't understand why until people started to tell me " Didn't you read the reviews? All those puppies are sick". So I started reading reviews & they freaked me out! I got anxiety, I couldn't even sleep at night thinking I could possibly bringing home a very sick puppy and you would think if you are going to be paying $2,800 that he would be healthy. But still I gave this place the benefit of the doubt, besides how could I say no to this sweet puppy I love. I spent hundreds at PetCo, Amazon, etc. Organized my house and even picked out a name for him, I was so ready for him to come home. BUT every Wednesday I got a call that he still needed to stay until cleared by the vet. The first week it was the runny nose, the next 2 weeks it was that he had a cough, the week after that was he had irritation or something, it just seemed worse and worse! I couldn't possibly bare taking home my baby puppy & have him be sick with who know what or for him not to live a long life it would break my heart. Still to this day I would not have him, So my mother and I went to Petland on Thursday to voice our concern about his health. They never said that they would be sending us home with a healthy puppy they just said "He is not dying" and gave us a refund. For an experience that is supposed to be one of the happiest moments in life turned out to be the worst. My family and I miss the baby puppy so much, I wish with all my heart that this situation...
