I live in AZ and have been here a couple of times and living in az or at least my area there's not especially a lot of anime based stores so this place was a treat. Despite the name cafe the establishment has a variety of packaged snacks and drinks in a fridge and it more of an arcade and otaku figure hobby shop. You have to pay for a time slot for how long you can be in the arcade it's not terribly expensive i think the most you spend is like 10 or 12 dollars. The selection of games is limited to fighters and rhythm games with a few exceptions. However you can apparently bring your own console or pc in if you prefer so at that point the arcade gets bigger if you have a access to those kinds of devices if you have a specific game in mind and own it you get the luxury of meeting new players and having a great time. Most things were priced really well with the exception of thing's priced so high because of the quality that its a wall some people don't attempt to hurdle over. if you like small WFC figures Moe style girl figures and popular and or current series figures though you'll get a good price. Things like a large figures or gunpla you might want to make sure you have a little extra cash and in my case suitcase room to bring it back with you. other things to include are a part of the store dedicated to anime watching a couple sitting areas and other things for sale like a few plushes, some gunpla tools and paint, business cards and flyers if i saw correctly, and a raffle of sorts. you pay 20 dollars and with any luck you get something as grand as a figure if you lose well. you get other things. in my case a shot glass from the bakemonogatari series and a couple of rubber keychains. If you like more western based content the most i can say is i managed to score a spider-man and deadpool japanese made black white and grey figures though who can say if there will be more. 4/5 stars will probably visit again in the future with a...
Read moreFirst time ever going here. I had contacted them before hand on Facebook regarding the policy of bringing your own computer or console and was told i could and there would be no issue. So i show up with my computer as i had wanted to show my friends all the games i have on steam and play them at a place that we could be away from home and even set up my VR. I walk to the front desk and ask the guy at the counter where can i set this up at. He looks at me puzzled and ask's "for what?" So again i ask him "where can i set this up to play games" he ask's me again with his condescending tone "play what" i told him "my games on my pc" he says to me "to play what" while raising his voice so i tell him again "the play the games on my pc" he then tells me "well nobody has ever brought in a pc before and i don't know if i would feel comfortable you using out internet i'm sure you understand" and this point i'm getting pissed so i tell him "i don't understand because for one i don't need internet to play games off steam. I can play offline and its the same as a console and all i need is a tv or monitor and that's it same as console and i had previously contacted you all before hand about this and was told it was cool" he tells me "well it obviously wasn't me who you talked to but i guess i'll just charge you the 10 for you and your friend to play here" so we proceed to pay and just like i had told him start playing games OFFLINE as i knew we could. What kind of customer service is this. I mean seriously i come in to play and share games with my friends and have to put up with an attitude like that. A pc is the same as a console. You just need a monitor and thats it. Was this so hard for him to understand. Again this was my first time in here. I hope a better experience can be had on my second visit. over there as i fully support places like this and do see that many people review it highly so i'm assuming this is not...
Read moreIf you like Japanese fighting games, this is your place. For $3 you get a wristband at the register and can play all the games you want for an hour; however, the arcade is not accessible for folks in wheelchairs or with mobility challenges, as the chairs are close together and cannot be easily moved (no wheels). Most of the games are single player and of the handful of two-player games, at least 2 were not working when we went. It seemed like most of the arcade games (vs. those installed on PCs) are various fighting games (Capcom etc); there are also 2 driving games (1 wasn't working), Tetris, Pac-Man, and a few dance and music games. The store carries mostly anime figurines (of the sexy scantily clad variety), key chains, and model sets (including a model Sega Saturn?!) - if you're looking for manga, you need to go elsewhere. There is a small selection of snacks and drinks, including a Hello Kitty cookie tin, but at $20 we didn't try it. We went around 6 pm on Wednesday and the arcade was full, but not crowded and people generally weren't...
