On a recent weekend, the city made the baffling decision to close down the main roads leading into the city park, coinciding with a day full of scheduled soccer games. This ill-timed closure caused massive frustration for hundreds of families and athletes trying to access the fields. The decision seemed not only poorly planned but downright idiotic, especially given the city’s knowledge of the heavy traffic expected for these games.
What was most infuriating was the lack of clear communication or alternative routes. Signs were either nonexistent or placed in confusing locations, leaving drivers in gridlock as they searched for ways to reach the park. Parents and players were forced to either park miles away and walk long distances, or circle the park endlessly hoping for a miracle shortcut. The ripple effect caused delays to the games, leaving kids stressed and late for their matches. Some families even missed games altogether, while others arrived flustered and exhausted.
One has to wonder how a city planning team, who should be aware of major events, could make such a careless mistake. It’s not as though this soccer tournament was a last-minute event; it had been scheduled for weeks, and many teams traveled from out of town. By choosing to shut down roads without providing an adequate solution, the city not only angered residents but embarrassed itself in front of visitors as well.
The lack of foresight and common sense in this decision was astonishing. Moving forward, it would be wise for the city to ensure that events like these are handled with proper planning and communication, avoiding unnecessary headaches for...

Read moreUpdate- Still a fun place, but just not enough shade for Texas summers. All of the swings are blistering hot. It would not be hard to put a shade structure over this. Unfortunately, there was some major damage to the fence the last time I went. The park is starting to fall apart and the lack of maintenence is evident. A fun park, but still has a few areas that could be improved. The ground always has plastic bottles, snack packaging, and other assorted trash on the ground. There's a sign that says not to bring food into the playground but it's ignored. Some of the wood on the playground is warping and doesn't look the best, but seems sturdy enough. Plenty of swings, but I do wish they had a shade cover like I've seen at other parks. This place is close to the house and is a large and interesting place for the kiddo to run around so we still hit it...
