I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at IHOP that left me questioning the professionalism and standards of this once-beloved breakfast establishment. My visit to IHOP turned from a promising meal into a bizarre and unsettling encounter that has tainted my perception of the restaurant.
Upon entering the IHOP location, I was immediately struck by the lack of cleanliness and overall disarray. The tables were sticky, and the floors looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Nevertheless, I decided to give the benefit of the doubt, assuming that the quality of the food and service would compensate for the less-than-ideal ambiance.
My party and I were promptly seated by a server who appeared disinterested and indifferent from the start. Little did we know that this was just the beginning of a surreal dining experience. As we perused the menu, our server approached our table with an air of nonchalance that set the tone for the rest of our time at IHOP.
To our astonishment, our server pulled out a vape pen and started vaping right there in the dining area. The clouds of vapor filled the air, creating an uncomfortable and unappetizing atmosphere. It was as if we had stumbled into a poorly executed comedy sketch rather than a family-friendly restaurant chain.
What made the situation even more baffling was the fact that our server seemed completely unfazed by the fact that they were openly vaping in front of customers. To make matters worse, the server wasn't just vaping discreetly in a corner – they were vaping while maintaining intense eye contact with our table. It was a surreal and deeply uncomfortable experience that left us wondering whether we had accidentally walked into an IHOP-themed nightmare.
As we attempted to order our meals, it became clear that our server's lack of professionalism extended beyond the unconventional vaping display. Our orders were mixed up, and the server seemed more interested in their vape pen than in getting our requests right. The entire ordeal left a sour taste in our mouths that not even the most delicious pancake stack could have salvaged.
In addition to the appalling behavior of our server, the food itself was a letdown. The pancakes were overcooked and dry, the eggs were rubbery, and the bacon was barely edible. It was a far cry from the IHOP experience I had come to expect based on past visits to other locations.
In conclusion, my visit to IHOP was an absolute disaster that I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. The combination of a poorly maintained dining environment, unprofessional and bizarre behavior from the server, and subpar food quality has ensured that I will think twice before setting foot in an IHOP again. This particular experience has left me questioning whether the management at this location is aware of the standards that should be upheld in a restaurant setting. I sincerely hope that IHOP takes steps to address these issues and restore the reputation of its brand, as my recent encounter has left me deeply disillusioned with what was once a go-to...
Read moreSo we, family of 5, went to the new IHOP in Wylie for brunch this past Sunday, 10-15-17 @ 2:30pm. We drove past several other IHOP's because this one is close to home, but after the service and dirty atmosphere, we really regretted our decission!!! The place was almost empty, maybe 5 tables had other customers. It was very dirty, seats had food on them, floors had food and straw paper trash on them, we had to sit is this until about 15 mins later when someone decided to sweep. It took almost 20 mins to get our drinks ordered, and another 15 to 20 mins to order our food!! Now its well after 3:10pm and we were still waiting for the food, and while we waited our waitress came to the table to vent about how it was shift change and she couldn't leave because her relief had not arrived and that she could only "do so much", ???? Not sure what she was getting at, maybe the dirty seats and floor, or the long wait to order, I dont know. She only had 2 tables to care for at that time. So, the FOOD finally comes and OMG!!!!, my husband ordered chicken fried steak and we ordered the big steak omlettes, which ALL had to be remade!! The omlettes had 2 slices on mushroom, no onion, no hashbrown and maybe 3 chunks of meat, basically it was a rolled up, over cooked, egg pancake!!!! And the chicken fried steak plate looked like a display plate, the gravy was dried out and cracked, the potatoes where super dry and they had chopped them up and flatten then to make it look like more than what was there, the broccoli was dry and turning purple on the edges!!!! I have never seen a plate of food so dried out, it look like it had been sitting there for a couple days!!!!!! So I asked to talk to the manager and he was very upset at our food and he said he would fix the problem, he came back with all 3 plates, which he said he cooked hisself and apologized for his cooks, but said he would deal with them later! Probably wont be going back there until they can get the staff situation under control, because thats basically what I felt...
Read moreTerrible service, evident as soon as we walked in and had to wait nearly ten minutes just to be shown to our table amd there were dirty dishes strewn across tables around the restaurant. This was at 630pm and the entire restaurant was empty with a total of 3 other groups in the restaurant. After being shown to our table we were told a waiter would be with us shortly, nearly twenty minutes went by before someone came to take our order, after being hassled by the waiter about our order he finally leaves and says it will be right out. Thirty minutes later our French toast comes. We ordered strawberry banana French toast and our French toast was cold when we got it. AS IF that wasn't enough, the banana was rotten and black in the middle. Oh, and I forgot to mention, we didn't get the meat or sides for nearly twenty minutes after getting the French toast (we ordered combos so it should have all arrived much closer in time). The eggs were meant to be sunny side up and came back scrambled so I asked for them to bring the right eggs and I pointed out the black bananas. The waiter said there was nothing he could do about the banana but brought out the correct eggs half an hour later. The manager never came to see if we were okay, nor did anyone ask if we needed drink refills or if the food was okay untill I started complaining about the poor service. Due to my non confrontational date the manager was not notified, something I truly regret as paying 20 dollars for a meal that was so bad is egregious. I will never return to this location and it is clear others felt that same as many other patrons canceled their orders while waiting and walked out. The waiter only ever apologized for the terrible service and quality when he realized he wasn't going to get any tips. Lastly as I forgot to mention this, the workers were visibly playing and goofing off instead of taking care of the customers. At times we could hear them arguing about who would get what table and they were slapping each other's butts in eye sight...
