The food was good 4/5, but this review is for the customer service 1/5
I had a disappointing experience at Rice Garden Restaurant. We arrived 2 weeks ago at 8:30 PM, and the waiter informed us that the kitchen was being cleaned therefore if we order right now our food would arrive by 9:00 PM. She even mentioned they close at 9:20 even though the posted closing time is 9:30 PM. We decided to stay and dine in.
The food came out dish by dish instead of all together which already slowed down our eating process as the last dish arrived at around 9:10 pm, which again was fine as we tried to eat in a rush, but things took a turn when at 9:15 PM, the waiter began asking if we needed to-go boxes. We informed her we will get them ourselves from the table in a few minutes but instead while we were still eating, she started packing our food off the table without asking first. Shocked, I politely told her if she could take a step back, we can pack it ourselves, but she rudely insisted while continuing to pack, saying they close at 9:20 PM and that they don’t get paid extra for staying overtime. I told her that her getting paid or not wasn’t my issue as a customer but is between her and her boss, and that she should have simply asked us to pack up and leave or kindly reminded of their closing time rather than rushing us in this way. I did apologize and let her know we got carried away but also reminded her that our last dish only arrived a few minutes ago. She seemed flustered and didn’t seem to understand the issue. After going back to the kitchen for a minute, we heard yelling and argument in the kitchen which i’m not sure was directed towards us or not as they were speaking in their language, but she returned and continued to pack up our food while we were already trying to pack it ourselves.
While I understand they may want to close on time, there’s just a more respectful and polite way to handle the situation. The lack of professionalism and courtesy really ruined our dinner. For the owner of this establishment, I believe customer service is far more important in the success of your restaurant than the food, and whether her statement was true or not, you should be compensating your employees properly in accordance to the amount of time that they are working, as in your case their compensation is clearly reflecting how they are treating...
Read moreI recently visited Rice Garden and had an excellent dining experience that I feel compelled to share. The food was absolutely delicious. The portions were generous, and everything was cooked to perfection. The flavors were bold yet balanced, and the ingredients were fresh. I particularly enjoyed their Tokyo Spicy Chicken and rice and the crispy spring rolls, which were packed with flavor.
What truly made the experience memorable, however, was the outstanding customer service provided by Sunny. From the moment we walked in, Sunny greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel right at home. She was attentive without being overbearing, and her recommendations were spot on. It's clear that she cares deeply about the customer experience, and her friendly demeanor added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal.
Overall, Rice Garden offers fantastic food paired with exceptional service. I’ll definitely be returning and highly recommend it to anyone in the area looking for a great...
Read moreI come to Rice Garden with my grandma since it’s her favorite spot. The food is always fresh and seems to be cooked to order, and the restaurant itself is pretty clean and modern for dining in. However, during my last visit, I had a concerning experience. After finishing my meal, I went to use the restroom. The cook walked out right before me, and when I went in, I noticed there was no soap available at the sink. My first thought was: how is anyone washing their hands properly, especially if the cook just left? I immediately went to the front to let them know, and the staff had to go refill the soap dispenser on the spot. While I can’t say for sure whether the cook washed his hands elsewhere, this situation didn’t sit well with me. Because when I went to go, tell them about refilling the soap, the cook was actively preparing someone’s plate. it’s a basic health and hygiene issue that shouldn’t be overlooked, especially in a...
