Old Town Jewelers — Attraction in Lewisville

Absolute worst place I have been to. The jeweler was rude and didn't even do what I asked them to do. I needed an appraisal for an engagement ring. Instead of doing what they should have done he snapped a couple pictures and told me he would appraise it for 3k. I get the center stone was lab created, but the stone alone was worth over 3k. Not to mention the band, small cut stone, and other various gems I had put on it when I had it designed. After talking to him he said he would do it for 10k. It was more than what I wanted, but I needed the appraisal for insurance. TWO WEEKS Later I get the appraisal after her said it would only take a couple days and it doesn't even have everything and appraisal report usually has. I gave him all the cards and papers I got from the jeweler had originally given me after he made the ring and that was all that was on there. My insurance won't accept the appraisal because he didn't put any information on the small cut stones. There was nothing about weight, carat size, color, clarity, nothing. Now I have to another jeweler who knows how to do an appraisal to get it redone. If you're looking to buy some over polished jewelry then this might be your place. If you need anything else done, I'd go somewhere else.

I cannot respond to this so I will just edit my current response in reply. I will not be coming back to get my money back. Never once did I complain about how much it was. It cost as much as any other appraisal. It's not about the money, it's about the work. As the owner you do not get to decide if whoever I talked to was rude or not, I do as the customer. The jeweler was short, dismissive, and did not complete the task in the time it was quoted to be completed and because of this I have to spend more time to go to a different jeweler to do...

I went to Old Town Jewelers to support a local small business in Old Town Lewisville. I'm SO disappointed with their quality of work and customer service. I had two sterling silver necklaces to repair and two watches that needed batteries. When i picked up the pieces I noticed they were all tarnished. One of the watches had corrosion that wasn't there before and the clock face had condensation in it and was foggy. One of the necklaces needed a new clasp. That new piece was dark and corroded. All the pieces were cold and damp like they were sitting under an air conditioner for an extended period of time. One the necklaces wasn't repaired correctly and I pointed that out. They fixed it but I can't help but wonder how did they not notice it when making the repair. When i dropped off the watch there was no fog in the face of the watch and now there is. His response .. That is condensation. Yeah ya guess! I will never go to this place of business and recommend anyone else to look else where. I wasn't rude just pointed out the issues with each piece. My grandfather’s gold nugget ring got passed down to me. & it was exactly that a “nugget” ring. He passed away on my birthday in 1991. One day I looked down and noticed a diamond had fallen out. I brought my ring to this establishment to get it repaired. When I went to pick it up after repair my ring has been smoothed out no longer a nugget ring. He changed the whole look of my grandfather’s ring and looks like a totally different ring. My heart breaks every time I look down. He shaved the gold off all the high points and gave me the highly lame excuse of he cleaned it. I stated I didn’t ask for a cleaning only the diamond replacement and that he didn’t clean it he changed it. It’s been a while since I been there I just couldn’t talk about this yet.
