If you’re in Lexington and needs something to do with your kids (that has air con) try the Children’s Museum . The kids loved all the different interactive exhibits and learning more about Lexington . We had a membership here in 2013 but opted not to renew for 2014 because the exhibits hadn’t really changed or been updated. I felt like my kids had lost interest in doing the same activities every time we came, plus it seemed a little run-down. Fast forward to this weekend, when we were invited to a birthday party here. The party was really fun and adorable; the staff did an engaging science experiment in the party area, but lo and behold, the exhibits are still the same as a decade ago. A dad at the party mentioned he grew up in Lexington and enjoyed a lot of the same exhibits in his childhood. The kids still had fun, and things seemed well-kept (there are some stuffed animal dogs in the veterinary area that were pretty threadbare in 2013, and they’ve purchased new dogs, for example), but it’s not somewhere we will come regularly because it’s always the same. Is it a matter of funding? Was it a management decision? I don’t know. But if you’ve never been, I’d recommend trying it once.

Excellent place to be. It was perfectly laid our so the noise was controlled. It wasn't overcrowded. There were engaging activities for my 5 children ages 2-13. The highlight was the kids courtroom. Hilarious play acting happened there. The toddler space was integrated such that parents can attend littles and still be available to bigger kids that need less supervision. The bubble room was fun, but very challenging. We couldn't get the bubble wall to work at all. The be inside a bubble was hard to figure out, but we got it eventually. Build your own dinosaur skeleton and make dinosaur footprints were fun. The airplane simulator was a bit dangerous for little kids climbing in and out. My 4 year old took a hard spill even though I was sitting right with him. The horse exhibit was a delight. I had to pull the kids away at museum closing. Great job guys!

Very disappointed!!!! We are from Tennessee and brought our 3 & 4 year old to Kentucky. We decided on our way out to make a stop in the Explorium to let the kids play, since most of our trip was spent in a room or in the hospital. The very first thing we stopped at in the explorium (the little aquarium) was broke, the next thing the horse measure thing was also messed up. Then we got to what would have been our kids favorite part; the water. No absolutely just no!! It was disgusting, nasty and barely had any water in it. Where we live we have a Creative discovery museum in Chattanooga about 1 hour from our house. Which we usually go to. For what we paid for 4 people to get into the explorium we could add about $35 more to it and get a year membership to our discovery museum. I read the reviews on this place before we went but thought maybe they've fixed the issues. They haven't which is sad it has a lot of potential. But for us we decided not to waste our time nor our money and asked for a refund. Which they were ify on giving us, even though Wed only been in there maybe 8 minutes. The parking also sucks. My suggestion don't wasteyour time trying to park and then wwalking to this place and then waste your money in there it definitely is...

This is the second time I have been here and each time we're delighted with the items that are available. From this experience. As I was walking in the was a couple outside talking about how bad it was. I stopped in the door to take off our coats. The guy came back inside said something to the lady and she have him some money back. She Was very helpful to his problem. I walked up she asked if had been there before and I stated yes. Very pleasant and helpful. Every time we would walked passed they would ask if we could help or if we needed anything and asked us if we were enjoying ourselves. We drive from Clay City to come here. One of the main reasons is there our an activity around every corner for you and your child. My daughter is 5 and I have to drag her out almost every time! We played together for hours on end without a care in the world. Some of the exhibits were down but for the cheap price I can live with it. She has a blast every time we go. And he imagination can run wild with the props but also very educational without her knowing! My only complaint would be up front it would be awesome to have lockers to place purses, wallets etc. Even for a price. We will be...

If I could give this 0 stars, I would. My friend and I took her 2 year old daughter thinking it would be a great time. Upon arrival the first room with the horses looked completely normal and nice. As we entered the next room we experienced one of the dirtiest, most off-putting experiences I have ever seen. Every single station was completely run down and DIRTY. There were outdated items all over the place, the carpet did not look vacuumed and every station was practically in shambles. I cannot believe this is supposed to be an educational place for KIDS when it is a living-breathing GERM PLAYGROUND. In the doctor's office themed area, the baby dolls were all dirty and there were papers all over the floor, the place was falling apart. My friend and myself were actually crawling out of our skin. We refused to continue at the explorium by going to the upstairs area because we were mortified of what we exposed a 2 year old to as well as ourselves. I would never recommend this place to ANYONE and would never be returning. It was a waste of $30. Make sure you have a tetanus shot before going in there. I cannot get the image out of my head with how disgusting...
