I visit this store often, and go WAY out of my way to do so. But after my experience today, I don't think I will ever be returning.
I put in an online order about 2:30pm, and was quoted 1 hour for it to be ready. I showed up at 3:45pm, and still hadn't got the email that it was ready. So, I shopped around and bought some other stuff. I eventually got the email and checked out.
I told the cashier that I also had an online order to pick up, and she completely ignored me while she talked to her coworker. She also was so distracted talking to her coworker, that she completely neglected bagging my items. I had to ask her for a bag to put them in, and she acted like I was inconveniencing her.
I then walked over to the online pickup spot and waited there for about 5 minutes, again while the workers were talking to each other instead of helping me, before someone asked if I needed help.
Someone eventually came over, and I told her I had an online order, and my last name. She looked in the cabinet for my order, then called my name over the radio, saying it wasn't ready yet.
I waited at the counter... and waited... and waited. While I was waiting, the employees were talking about the closing manager calling out, and DISCUSSING HER MEDICAL ISSUES. The MANAGER even chimed in, and made fun of this other employee for having medical issues. This is BEYOND a breach of privacy.
I waited 15 minutes until a different person asked if I needed help. I told her I had been standing there for 15 minutes, waiting on an online order I had placed almost 2 hours ago at this point. She asked for my name again and walked over to the cabinet. It was in there the ENTIRE time. No apology. Nothing. Just handed me the bag.
I then noticed that 7 of the 9 items in my order were missing. When I brought this up, the employee told me it was a "no pick." When I asked her what that meant, she said that they didn't have it in stock. No explanation on how they were going to make it right, again no apology, not even a "sorry for wasting your time." I asked her what the deal was, was I getting a refund, a gift card, etc.. She said she didn't know and to look out for an email.
The lack of customer service, lack of privacy amongst the employees, and extremely poor communication between employees and customers is driving a regular customer away. I go out of my way to visit this location, and will now to out of my way to give my money to a...
Read moreI purchased my H&K VP40 at Academy Sports in Liberty, as well as the cleaning kit & holster. The overall customer service was great, except for one "little", BIG issue. The gentleman that first assisted me, whom I do not remember his name, so the only way I can describe him is that he was about 6' or 6'2", had a clean cut beard & was on "the big side" (belly wise), did not have any kind of personality whatsoever. He talked more monotone and when trying to find a cleaning kit & holster he would say, "Oh just about anything will work." A total lack of, what felt to me as, very disengaged as well as unknowledgeable, totally the opposite of the helpfulness and knowledge that I received from a "family owned/locally owned" gun store, SHOW-ME Shooters. The only reason I bought the cleaning kit & holster from Academy is honestly due to the lower prices. I live on a fixed income and had no other choice at the time, so, shame on me for not waiting another 2 or 3 months to make my gun & accessories purchase from the locally owned store that would have been worth the wait, but I had finally drawn the line in waiting long enough to be able to protect my family & myself. I have now learned by making a mistake & am now saving to make future purchases at the proper gun store for any accessories and the place where I know I will get the proper advice and knowledgeable service.
I am in no means stating that I will not buy from Academy Sports again in the future, it just will not be for any advise/customer service of future gun products. One last thing. The manager who had to finalize and review the paperwork for my gun purchase was wonderful and very friendly. I guess I should have asked him for advise to begin with. We all live, make mistakes and learn so we do not make the same...
Read moreAsked to join the my Academy program and was walked through what turned out to be a credit card application. I should’ve known better when it asked for my income and the last four of my social. Wasn’t sure what that was for so I explicitly asked if it was a hard inquiry on my credit to which the cashier said I don’t know. Read the terms and conditions read everything on the screen to discover there was no expressly written statement that it was a hard inquiry on my credit.
When I got to the vehicle, I received two emails that it was a hard inquiry. Per fair credit reporting act regulations, it is illegal to run a hard inquiry without disclaiming it to their customer and written consent. I will be filing a complaint with the consumer finance protection bureau.
Manager use the excuse “Well sir we have teenagers as cashiers most of the time.”
Teenagers shouldn’t be allowed to sign people up for a credit card.
The cashier was a middle-aged woman who obviously wasn’t trained well enough.
I understand that you think nothing can be done on your end to help me out, Dustin. Nonetheless, talking down to me and acting like I was a dumbass who couldn’t realize I was filling out a credit card application doesn’t help the fact that your associate didn’t do what...
