Wonderful aromas when we entered the restaurant. Great vegan options. All the vegetarian options were vegan. My wife and I split the vegetarian platter with leftovers to spare. Very filling. All the items were delicious, though my favorite dishes were the red lentils, and the potatoes with carrots. There was a spicy puree that I enjoyed, as well as a bright yellow lentil dish that was great. My son had a delectable chicken dish with tasty rice that he finished, though he nearly burst. My mother enjoyed a fish dish she ordered. The waiter recommended a strong wine with honey for my wife, which was warming and delightful. He recommended a popular Ethiopian beer (a well-balanced lager with a nice malty backbone) that I enjoyed. The dining area was clean and well-maintained. One area of opportunity: the lighting was too bright. The space could have used softer, more intimate lighting. But that wasn’t a deal-breaker. The food was excellent, and the service was great....
Read moreThis was our first experience having Ethiopian-Eritrean food. We were inspired by the excellent novel, "Cutting for Stone," by Abraham Vergese, which is set mostly in Adis Abbaba, Ethiopia. Have to admit it was a little intimidating at first. The food was excellent and we fell in love with the injera bread you use to pick up the food. The servers were very warm and friendly. One suggestion would be to ask if the diner has ever been to an Ethiopian restaurant before, and help them understand how to eat with the injera. Maybe describe the dishes that comprise a combination platter, because we were not familiar with any, and it would be interesting to learn a little about them. We ordered far too much food, and felt a little silly taking home so many leftovers, but I'm sure we will enjoy those leftovers tomorrow. I'll be recommending Yadot Kitffo to my friends! አመሰግናለሁ...
Read moreI truly cannot recommend Betty's enough. The service and food are absolutely stellar.
I worked with Betty's on a birthday party event and I am so glad I did. Everyone loved the food and a few folks had never had Ethiopian before and were instantly won-over.
We tried many items and EVERYTHING was delicious, well spiced, and filling. Generous portions and incredible flavor. Wow, wow, wow!
This is low key the best Ethiopian restaurant in the Twin Cities and you need to get down here right now. If you live on the West Side, take a break from boring pizza and burritos and get some authentic home-cooking from people who care....stop at Betty's, you won't regret it.
I will be a loyal customer for years to come.
Thank you Betty's, you are unbelievable and will be a...
