Affordable Consigned Furnishings — Attraction in Littleton

In spite of the numerous negative reviews, I decided to check this place out. They do have some nice items, but the store is dirty and the staff is very unfriendly. The prices seem high to me and I’ve been shopping furniture consignment shops for decades. They do not acknowledge any customers when they come in and they do not offer assistance.

I recently purchased three items in this store a few minutes before they were closing (a brand-new ottoman, metal vertical locker, and metal basket).

The employee, seemed to be in a hurry, but still kindly offered to load the items in my car. I told him I was concerned about all of the items fitting in my car in one load and he insisted it would be fine.

While I was moving items in my backseat to my trunk to make room, he loaded my car. I have attached photos showing how he loaded the items. The fabric underneath the Ottoman was torn and the legs were scratched up. In addition, the tint on my windows was damaged.

I called the store the next day and explained the situation to Jan and Jan said that they guarantee the loading of items and that she would either refund me the money or order another brand-new ottoman, but I had to email the photos to the manager, Kimberly.

Kimberly responded and was very rude and unprofessional. She stated that since I cannot prove that the damage was done by the employee loading my car, they weren't going to do anything. All of my photos were time stamped and taken in their parking lot. I could not go back inside the store to talk to them, because they were already closed. I am in honest and fair person and I am so disappointed in the service I received. If you buy anything here, do not let them load your car.

Also, they have a final sale policy on everything, but they don't tell you that. It is printed on your receipt AFTER you've already...

Affordable Consigned Furnishings moved several large furniture items into consignment for my family in February. We loved them! Great communication, friendly professional service, careful moving, fair pricing and peace of mind with no surprise charges. More details below.

Great communication before and during the move. The team called me at each milestone: planning, confirming the day, confirming the time window, and just before arrival. That gave me time to get to the location without worry.

Friendly professional service. The admin team who planned the move and the team of two movers, Tony and Cedric, were all polite, professional and efficient. Cedric and Tony took care with parking the van, they were very clear on what to take, they moved and packed up everything with care for my belongings and the home itself, and they were very nice to my dog. :-) They worked well as a team, working out how to disassemble our large bookcase for the easiest transportation. They had a good sense of humor but also kept working every second they were here!

Fair pricing. The job was billed at $225 and it took the team a couple of hours to get everything in the truck. It was more than we could have done on our own by renting a truck and getting the items moved would have taken about 8 of our friends even though we are all strong!

Peace of mind. We know that the consignment store works with Affordable Movers regularly, and it is in everyone's best interest to get the items there in great condition. So we know our furnishings would be...

Sellers Beware! We had an agreement to sell my mother's beautiful solid oak furnishings. All very large and very heavy. I warned the office and the movers multiple times that they needed to send at least 3 people. They blew me off and laughed at me when I insisted that the large display cabinet could not be moved by 2 people. The movers arrived 2 hours late and 3 hours into the packing and moving, suddenly decided that the display cabinet was "damaged" and refused to move it. Unfortunately, they had already placed most of the furniture into the van, and we ended up having to move all of it back into the house. I watched while they tried, unsuccessfully, to move the unit, flexing it in such a way that it separated the three piece unit. They lied that the piece was "damaged when they arrived", and that they had not moved it at all. There were observers present while this happened, but they continued to insist that the unit was already damaged, and they hadn't moved it. I have "before" and "after" photos which clearly showed they both moved and damaged the furniture, but the manager would accept no responsibility. What a nightmare. The owner/manager was rude and dismissive. I would never consign furniture with these people. After that incident, I knew that they would not be good...
