Buyer beware: I would rate this as a 0 if possible. I also never write reviews but honestly felt the need to share my terribly negative experience at this establishment in a hope to help others. I planned my day around getting my hair colored and was looking forward to it. I was late for my appointment by less than 15 minutes and they refused service to me. And on top of that treated me so rudely I almost left in tears. They told me my only option was to reschedule for the next day even though I had no desire to go back to this salon after the way they treated me but felt I would be charged for a service they refused me for if I didn’t reschedule (scammy). I came back the next day, early of course after my rude encounter the day before, only to be told that what I was looking for could not be done on my hair even though I booked the service for it (looking for a root touch up and highlights). The told me the dyes they used could not be used to lighten the hair. Apparently Madison reed dyes do not lighten, lift or warm the hair. You can only dye your roots darker than its natural color so they said. The woman told me that my roots could potentially turn bright orange and they had no idea what the color could turn out to be. I guess these aren’t normal dye colors. What a disappointing experience. I left after a week of waiting for an appointment, 2 days of planning my days around getting my hair done with nothing and now I leave for vacation in a week and am stressed about finding a place to get my hair done in time. Which is probably ultimately at a benefit to me, verses having this situation become any worse. The customer service at this place was atrocious, the stylists seemed unprofessional, unwilling to help and incompetent at their profession. Barely anyone in the salon. Stylist just standing around talking not taking any clients but refused to take me when I walked in 15 minutes late. I have never understood a business model that is so exclusive but negates to inform new clients of their niche service and wastes their time without a bit of concern. I would never recommend this place to anyone. To be honest the only reason I am writing this review is to warn people. Hopefully this place closes down and a store is added that would benefit...
Read moreI wish I could give this place zero stars. I’ve spent the last three years growing out my hair—it was super long, healthy, and something I was really proud of. I came to Madison Reed Hair Color Bar in Littleton for a balayage, and they assured me they could do it. This was my first time ever getting my hair done, so I didn’t mind that I was there for hours—what I did mind was how I was treated.
The stylist working on me kept leaving me with bleach in my hair to go help other clients. She didn’t ask me a single question about my hair or what I wanted, nor did she explain anything she was doing throughout the entire process. After leaving the foils on way too long, she rinsed me out and applied toner—which she also left on for over 15 minutes while attending to someone else. When she finally rinsed it out, she told me I was “all good” and that I could blow dry my own hair if I wanted to… which I found really strange.
When I looked in the mirror, I was horrified to see chunks of my hair completely fried and breaking off. I brought it up to her, and she just said, “That’s normal,” then aggressively brushed through my damaged hair, ripping out even more. She sent me on my way like nothing happened.
I came back the next day to speak with the manager, and while she agreed to “fix” it, she didn’t offer a refund or any kind of compensation. She put in lowlights, which was just a temporary bandaid—my hair still looked awful a week later. I’ve now had to spend hundreds of dollars on products and treatments to try and repair the damage. Thankfully, I’ve found a new salon that is actually helping me fix what Madison Reed destroyed.
Do not trust this place with your hair. I’ll be including photos to show the damage caused. Please learn from my mistake—go somewhere that actually cares about your hair and...
Read moreI wanted to love this place. I really did. I have already been using Madison Reed color for a couple of years now.
I will say that I am happy with my color job but it was not without its issues.
The staff was friendly and I was greeted instantly. Did my color consultation and picked my color. My colorist seemed to be rushed though. Apparently she hadn’t had a break and it showed. She was so sloppy with my color. Even though she put on some barrier cream, my face was covered in dye! My forehead, cheek, ears, and earrings were covered in black dye. She tried cleaning it off and took off my makeup in the process. The color on my forehead did not come off. Some dye even got on my white watch band! I have never had so much color on my skin from a professional before. I don’t even look this bad when I do it myself.
After my color was done, an assistant shampoos your hair. The person was very friendly and we had a lovely conversation but my hair was not rinsed very well. When I rubbed my hand through my hair at the self service hair bar, my fingertips were black. When I got home, I took a shower and so much color came out still.
I am happy with the results but not for the $70 extra it costs me from doing it myself. It was so much more additional work getting color off my skin and re-washing my hair. I can just buy the $30 kit and do it at home (which I normally do).
I may give it another chance but I will make sure I have a few hours after just in case I need to wash...
