A bit long, but I'm angry enough and hope this saves someone the hassle. Recently came out of a job and found I couldn't afford a $35 monthly fee any more. I came in to cancel and found that it's impossible to cancel on weekends and that you can only do so by coming in from 9 to 5 on a weekday or through email (which takes several days.)
Since I ended up without a job fairly suddenly and had a lot of things to put in order, canceling my membership there wasn't first on my mind, as I had no reason to believe it would be such a hassle. Ended up getting charged after I had come in to try and cancel since it was a weekend and no one was available to cancel my membership.
Came in to cancel and get a refund and was treated as if I didn't exist for a majority of the time. I was intermittently asked questions and then ignored again while the two employees at the front desk checked others in, answered the phones, and helped other members out with little things. Finally I was told my membership was canceled but that I would have to wait for the manager to get off the phone and give me a refund.
She finally got off and I was met with more rude behavior. Her tone was hard and rude as she said that they don't normally do refunds and told me like a child that I should have come in before I was charged (which I had tried, but it was a weekend and so I was turned down.) She then said I should have done it by email, to which I responded that I had been told it would take a week or more and that I didn't have that time. "Yeah but we honor it the day it was submitted." No one ever told me that, and I spoke to two different people before it came to this. After she tossed out that my refund would be processed within 3-5 days, she went back to completely ignoring me.
It was humiliating to be treated like that despite my attempts at politeness. No one wants to be out of a job, and no one expects to be made to feel bad and chagrined over something as mundane as canceling a gym membership. If you're thinking about getting a membership here, go somewhere else. Everywhere else is cheaper and cleaner. They're charming until you run out of money and cause them any form of...
Read moreI had a terrible experience at LA Fitness Carson Cherry. When I arrived at the gym, the girl at the front desk was rude and unhelpful. I asked her for a guest pass so that I could bring a friend with me to work out, and she told me that I needed to have a physical pass in order to bring a guest. I explained to her that I had already paid for my membership and should be able to bring a guest, but she insisted that I needed to pay an extra $20 for a physical pass. I then asked to speak with the manager, Anthony, who was even more hostile and unhelpful. He told me that there was no way to issue a guest pass at the gym and that I needed to go online and request one. He said that it would take 24 hours for the pass to be processed, which seemed like an unreasonable amount of time. I was surprised to hear this, as I had been able to get a guest pass at other LA Fitness locations in the past without any issues. Anthony then attempted to extort $20 from me, saying that if I didn't pay for the physical pass, I wouldn't be able to bring a guest to the gym. I felt like I was being treated unfairly and was very disappointed with the level of customer service I received. To make matters worse, both the girl at the front desk and Anthony were extremely hostile and unfriendly during the entire encounter. I did not feel welcome or respected at the gym, and I left feeling frustrated and upset. Overall, I would not recommend LA Fitness Carson Cherry to anyone. The level of customer service was very poor, and the staff seemed more interested in making money than in helping customers. I would suggest that the gym improve its policies and train its staff to be more friendly and helpful...
Read moreI am Visiting my cousins house to bring in the new year and decided to go to the gym today . I used to work for LA fitness in Culver City and I saw a flyer on my cousins porch this morning that prompted me to go when I arrived I asked for a guest pass the woman at the front desk explained that I could pay for a day pass but I couldn’t get a guest pass unless I did it outside . She didn’t ask any questions on how long I was staying in town , she didn’t give me any tour or other option she just wanted me to pay and work out so I left feeling disappointed. I went to my Gmail and found my employee I’d number and went back in and spoke with her co worker and explained that if she was in sales and not only front desk that she needs more training . He was very unapologetic and had the nerve to tell me can I ask you a honest question ? If she was to follow all of the sales procedures would you buy ? I answered not today , but after my trial was up if I was still in town I definitely would’ve bought . I told them I wasn’t going to do a review but I’m just very dissatisfied with the way I was treated being that I worked for this company before and I know the sales procedures . The prospecting , Touring process and the presentation and they didn’t even attempt the sale . LA fitness needs to do better . I only decided to leave a review because I don’t want anybody who is afraid to speak up for themselves to experience the same treatment . I didn’t need to work out there that bad . I have a membership at fitness 19 but the fact that they didn’t even try disappointed me . Wouldn’t...
