This place is a literal HELL ON EARTH! The people that have left positive reviews were either paid or possibly live on a different part of the building. I have lived here for almost 4 years, wanted to leave sooner but unfortunately financial circumstances didn’t allow me to do so. Where to begin… The surrounding area is very dangerous, you can’t even walk across the street to the 7/11 without risking your life. They say there is security, that is a lie, the only security is the one security guy for the medical office attached to this building (he doesn’t do anything for the residents here). The gate is broken a lot of the time and the side stairway (with full access to the building) is left unlocked and homeless people walk through and use it as their own personal bathroom and hangout area. No words can describe the smells of this stairway, I have to hold my breath or I will vomit. I have been assaulted multiple times by drugged out homeless people right in front of the building. One time while pulling my car out of the gate a cracked out guy came up and started banging on it, damaging my vehicle. For over a year (if not longer) one of the residents here screamed terrorist threats out her window claiming to have bombs and weapons and stating “you’re all dead!” (At all hours of the night, 3am was a common time). After numerous calls to the office and police, nothing was ever done. Then one day she actually discharged her weapon at someone and finally the police stepped in. I was locked out of the building and not allowed access that entire night because the SWAT team closed the entire block down. Had to sleep in this ghetto area in my car (for context I pay around $2,300 for a 1 bd apartment here). The amenities are dirty and not worth using and the neighbors (not all obviously) are disrespectful and leave their trash everywhere and allow their pets to defecate anywhere. There has been multiple changes in management here and yet no improvements. Not only do I pay crazy rental increase rates every year for this place but also this year they implemented a parking fee on top of everything else. There are no other parking options in the area, and my spot has always been included in the lease. Flat out a GREEDY move. Honestly shame on whomever manages/ invests in this place, I cannot fathom how you justify the prices here. I could go on for ages, there is so much more, but I won’t because this is already too long. I pray this review saves future individuals from making the massive mistake I did by moving here. It will take a toll on your mental health, you will not feel safe, it is dirty, neighbors are rude, and management doesn’t care(also doesn’t understand legal rights). Im finally leaving this place and this review is...

I stayed at Urban Village for two years. At the beginning I loved it for the most part.
The real nightmare didn’t start until, the property management company changed over to Pinnacle.Which was later acquired by Cushman & Wakefield. That is when the new property manager Alexander Mathews took over. From there I can honestly say everything wen’t down hill.
After notifying Alex about pest control issues I started to experience in my unit. ( !!roaches fleas and or bedbugs !!!!). I let management know that I was seeing roaches & was getting bitten. Was told I had to wait a week until they could send someone. I expressed that wasn’t acceptable. Was then told someone would come the following Business day. Which nobody ever showed up. Nothing was done until the third time of bringing it to his attention. Was very neglectful and disinterested about taking care of tenant issues as such.
There was one time that I was locked out from the parking garage because the key fob wouldn’t work at 3 AM. I called the overnight emergency number and they were no help. I had to sleep in my car that night until I was let in. The next day when I brought it to Alex attention and asked him what can I do or who could I contact if that were to happen again. He was unable to give me an answer and never followed up with me to help prevent that from happening again.
!!Beware!!! The management company is truly diss honest & straight out unethical. I moved out over 30 days ago I still haven’t received my security deposit. Per, California Law they are require to return security deposit within 21 days after move out. Not only have I not received this in the security deposit but they also owe me $1.3k+ in overpaid rent. When I attempt to follow up I either get no response from Alex or when I finally do it’s just a run around. Telling me it must have gotten lost or returned in the mail. When I requested that have someone call me or have someone else that can help me with this matter reach out he ignored my multiple request.
Currently seeking legal assistance to assist with recovery of these...
Read moreAbout nine months ago, I moved into Urban Village Long Beach, and it immediately felt like the right fit. During my first meeting with Derren, I told him I was looking for the best apartment available—something that really stood out. He showed me the unit I live in now, and it was exactly what I was looking for. The layout, style, and features were all on point, and I didn’t feel the need to see any other options.
The apartment features an open floor plan and a clean, modern design that makes the space feel both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The kitchen is fully equipped and ideal for anyone who enjoys cooking, and having an in-unit washer and dryer makes day-to-day living more convenient. One of my favorite aspects is the soaking tub—it’s perfect for relaxing after a long day. The overall vibe of the apartment supports a sense of calm and privacy that’s important for maintaining mental balance.
On top of the apartment itself, the location is unbeatable. Urban Village sits in a highly convenient area—steps from the Metro and surrounded by tons of businesses, restaurants, and daily essentials. That level of accessibility really matters when you're living a busy life.
At first, I was a little nervous moving in, but that feeling faded fast. Even before I saw my apartment, I noticed the pool, the friendly faces, and the welcoming energy in the gym. Once I stepped inside my unit, I was sold. It’s spacious, modern, and has all the appliances I need. There's a sense of place here that makes it feel like home.
And then there’s the team. The maintenance technician clearly takes pride in his work—it shows in the details. The office staff are equally helpful, warm, and available whenever I’ve needed support.
I’d easily give Urban Village five stars. It’s a place where convenience meets community, and I truly enjoy living here. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking...
