My friends here in East Texas... If you like cool things and take things finish you're missing out by not going to the Red Door. Owner is a gentleman and very knowledgeable... For the life of me I cannot think of his name. The store front seems like it's a small store but once you get in it it goes back and he has a tremendous amount of incredibly cool incredibly cool antiques and vintage "eclectics". When you go and do visit him you need to make sure you have some time at some time, rather than running in and running out, because you're so much stuff to see. It's like a time machine in parts of it and antiques are history. American history "MADE IN AMERICA", And the way the antiques were made, the different techniques tell the story of a country as it grew through the Victorian and Progressive Era....where we were and where we came to. Unfortunately, those quality "Made in America", products by Craftsman and artisans are now imported from other countries, mostly Asian and theyre very cheaply made. They're just stamped out as fast as they can be, using the cheapest materials and as my Mom used to say, Won't last til the water gets hot", unlike those products Made in America that were made to last. Read moreThis place is on another level for quality furniture. You may be able to go to new furniture stores and get a nice piece for a few grand. This place will have an expertly handcrafted solid oak mantle from the 1800s with 1000+ hours of intricate carvings in it. And probably for less money. A lot of this stuff is one of a kind that you would never see anywhere else again.
Prices here are fair I would say. The store is also huge. There is so much stuff in the store that I kept walking back into rooms and seeing things I didn’t notice before. You could probably get lost in here.
I didn’t interact too much with the staff so I can’t comment on them, likely because it’s hard enough to avoid getting lost.
