The gym itself is alright, but the cancellation policy is criminal and predatory. I'm in the military and was in town for leave and got a membership. Went back home to Savannah and tried to cancel my membership online... No luck.
Tried to cancel with the Savannah planet fitness... I'll need to transfer my membership to Savannah (which for some made up reason takes 90 days). Well I'm not paying for three more months that I'm not going to use.
So I call Amherst planet fitness. They tell me I need to send a letter. Guys I'm not writing to the governor to get a stay of execution, I'm trying to cancel a gym membership. Shouldn't be this complicated. Beep beep beep, press a few buttons. I know someone there had the authority to cancel my membership without all this ruckus.
Oh and the letter has to have a whole bunch of personal information included. What's to stop planet fitness from just saying they didn't get the letter? You've shown yourself to be categorically opposed to my interests. I'm trying really hard not to swear here but I don't trust planet fitness for a second.
I've never left anything but five star reviews for places I've enjoyed and wanted to share with other people. This is the first time I've given anything less but I feel it's...
Read moreI don’t expect much for $10/mo but when it’s 85 degrees out I do expect them to turn the fan on. If I wanted to walk uphill in the heat I’d go to the park for free.
Updated to add that this place is filthy. All their staff stand at the counter and pretty much do nothing. Bathrooms are constantly gross with personal hygiene cans full of tampons from the day prior… and this is what the only water fountain in the place looks like… I got there right when they opened, so it’s pretty obvious no one has even cleaned this. Back in the day I used to clean for a living so let me tell you this IS NOT from “hard water”, this is disgusting build up from prolonged lack of sanitation and cleanliness. You don’t even want to see what the sides of the fountains look like. Machines are constantly dirty… and the only time I ever see them lift the cardio equipment to “clean” is during peak usage times like between 3-5pm.
Honestly if there was another gym near my home, I’d pay a lot more to go if I could. I come here begrudgingly because it is currently my only option. If you have other options that fit your schedule,...
Read moreThis place is ok. The workers are friendly and keep things clean. However, there are 2 huge complaints that affect my opinion. I wish I lived closer to another PF. [1] WiFi is atrocious. My phone is only a $130 BLU phone. I don’t have 5 gig capability on this phone. I only have 2 gig (while not as fast, should provide stronger signal at further distance). I have no problems whatsoever in my home. However, internet connection goes in and out while at PF Amherst - even when there are as little as 15 people in the building.
This means I’m required to use my cell phone data for fit bit sync and songs not already downloaded. I have mentioned this to the workers. One told me they have been looking into the issue. He said he knew there was a problem. Another said he didn’t know there was a problem. He said his phone is fine (didn’t know if he was using 2 or 5 gig).
[2] Out of 4 stair steppers, they are always going DOWN. I don’t remember a time when all 4 worked. I also recommend they be separated so COVID reduction distancing can be maintained if more than 1 user...
