Update: They sent Orkin to my apartment and I think my problem with fleas has officially ended. The management has also offered to waive my transfer fee but the price for a one bedroom as of now, I find, to be very high. Itās the same level of price as a one bedroom in Playa Vista.
Its been over a month since I moved in to Altitude Apartment.
Pros: plenty of floor plans to choose from. I found a floor plan that I really like facilities and amenities are great: pool, clubroom, etc modern washing machine and dryer guest parking is available and gated community areas are considerably clean, including the elevators hardwood floors including the bedroom, making it easier for you to clean your apartment staffs are nicer than some others i have met and dealt with pet spa (i do not have a pet that requires this, but i thought its nice for those who have dogs) i think i also saw bycicle storage room. my unit is facing the courtyard and its very quiet which is nice. nice mailroom i do like wednesdays food truck. back in dec, they have a gift wrapping station. I thought this is very nice
Cons: floor is incredibly thin, you can hear your upstairs neighbor walking around, even closing doors. Downstairs neighbor has a very good home theatre system I guess, it shook my floor. apartment only looks clean at first, as i clean my apartment, i found more and more cat hairs (i assume previous tenant has cats), even under the toilet top (where you find the flush buttons). It was so gross, balls of hairs! Cat hairs are also stuck in the corners of the bedroom, windows. i had problems with flea bites my first week after moving in. I thought that itās the moving truck. But now that I think about it, the moving company wraps everything in plastic wraps. Its more than likely that these flea problems stem from unclean apartment (perhaps those fleas are from the cats!!!). I spent 3 weeks spraying my apartment with flea killers and vaccuming, mopping my floors everyday. I should have contacted the leasing office about this but back then I was not sure where these fleas were coming from. These flea bites left scars/marks even after a month. I have red dots all over my legs and feet. I am very disappointed and upset. I have never experienced this before. I am very traumatized now and everytime I feel a bit of an itch, I change my sheets, mop the floor, spray everything. They have 30 day satisfaction guarantee. I have made it known that I want to change unit due to noise coming from upstairs. I am very sensitive to noise but I didnt expect that the floors would be this thin. Unfortunately, No top floor units are available within this time frame. I was told I hV to pay 500 usd transfer fee. I assume this is cleaning fee and admin fee. Knowing that my apartment deep cleaning was not done properly and the fact that the unit I am moving into is not the original unit I signed up for (I was told that the contract needed to be āvoidedā since current resident changed his/her mind about moving out but as far as I am concerned, I was not the one breaking the contract. I have paid and signed everything. Then i had to contact utilities etc to change address. How troublesome but what can you do, it happened. The quote i secured by leaving work earlier is no more. T. T. All that effort sort of wasted. Oh well...), I was hoping that the management would consider some flexibility on the 500 usd transfer fee, I mean, i have made it known that I am not happy within 30 days. But I was not granted this. After all I have gone through, I thought that this can be reduced or waived. Packages are just āstoredā in a room with shelves, its not individual lockers. Be ready to spend minutes to find your package. Further, I have signed up with Luxer One but I never get a notifications. You need to keep track of what You have purchased and see if its delivered, then contact the leasing office. i have no phone signals in my unit. Annoying but once you have internet and wifi calling set up. i think its...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUPDATE - 10/6/20: As of October, Altitude addressed the guest parking by getting a 50% discount for the Howard Hughes parking lot, which means it's $5 for every 24 hours and guests just need to validate their ticket in the lobby of the apartment building. Given the limited guest parking spaces and general limitations of the area when it comes to parking, I think this is a great update.
My fiance and I worked with Athena during the application and move-in process, and she was fantastic. She was very responsive to our questions and gave us a very thorough explanation of everything we needed to know about the community.
After we moved in, there were a few issues with the apartment that we found during the initial inspection, but the maintenance team was very fast about fixing those issues. I even had a larger issue with my washer leaking outside of the initial move-in inspection time window, but the maintenance team came by ASAP to check out the issue, and then told me exactly when they would be able to address it. It was just nice to have that contact and communication instead of not knowing when the issue would be fixed. Oh, did I mention that the apartments themselves are all extremely modern and beautiful? Well they are. Nice appliances, tons of storage, intuitive floor plan, and overall just very comfortable living space.
The building and community is great, despite amenities like the gym and clubhouse being closed due to COVID. Everything is very clean, landscaping in and around the place is beautiful, the community overall is very quiet and peaceful (even though it's right next to the freeway), and every resident that I have met so far has been very friendly. The Howard Hughes Center is also the perfect walking distance away, although most things there are closed right now.
Now for a few downsides. -Guest parking can be a little difficult since the spaces are almost always filled. Management has said that they are working with the HH Center to figure out a deal for more convenient and affordable parking, so at least that is hopefully in the process of being addressed. -The package room can be a little bit hectic sometimes. Packages get grouped only shelves for whole groups of apartments. If you're unlucky, it can be very crowded with boxes and it can be difficult to find your stuff. On the flip side though, it does seem to be very secure. I haven't had a problem with it so far, but a friend of mine has. -Cell phone service can be a bit spotty and inconsistent. Not sure why. It's not a big deal for me, but if you're the kind of person that needs reliable cell service for any reason, you may want to take that into consideration. I am on Verizon and on average I get 2 out of 4 bars for reception, which is enough for a 1 casual call per day kind of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFinal Update 7/10/22: I moved out two months ago after a truly horrific last couple months. In April, Altitude allowed the remains of a deceased resident to stay in an apartment for WEEKS. The smell was unbearable and permeated the lobby and the entire third floor, not to mention the indignity of the situation for the poor deceased person. Can you imagine coming home every day and having to hold your breath while you walk through the lobby to avoid having to smell a dead person? And I cannot imagine the horror that those who lived on the third floor went through; residents there said the smell was inside their apartments. Multiple people, including myself, reported the situation to the health department, but Iām not sure what came of that as I moved out soon after. Management completely disregarded our many complaints about this issue. The whole thing was insane.
Update 3/30/22: The second elevator has been fixed, as has the garage gate. However, for about two weeks, the front door to the building was broken. Due to this, it was often left open, which meant anyone could come in the building day or night. Itās fixed now, thankfully.
Update 2/14/22: One of the elevators is fixed. The other is still broken, 1.5 months later. This causes very long wait times for the elevator, as we are all trying to share just one.
Update 1/23/22: The elevators have now been broken for over 3 weeks. Also, in response to Altitudeās reply: many of us residents, including myself, have spoken to management about these issues and have been met with dismissals. Also, the front gate has been broken since around Dec 2019/Jan 2020, so you definitely canāt blame that on the supply chain.
I've lived in this building for over two years now, and things have really gone downhill. -There was an active shooter inside our building a couple months ago, and we received no communication from management until the next day, so we were all left to hole up in our apartments, watch the dozens of police cars outside, and worry for hours. -The main elevators have been broken due to flooding for two weeks now, and won't be fixed for two more (probably longer, considering this building's track record). -The pool and hot tub heaters have been broken for months. -The garage gates have been broken since I moved in two years ago. -There are mushrooms growing out of the carpets in the first floor hallways. -The building is infested with cockroaches and gnats. -Management will raise your rent hundreds of dollars every year. -If you need an extra parking space, it costs $200 per month, and I waited almost 2 years on the waitlist for the privilege of...
