I know what you are doing.... you are thinking how am I going to pass the CA bar exam? Well, you can stop now and just sign up with One timers and start studying ASAP. The whole team at OTs is amazing. From Jason, Ethan, and all the graders and staff in between. You will have your questions answers REALLY quickly. The materials are amazing. I have seen many other bar prep materials, but Jason lives and breathes for the bar and there isn't anything he hasn't seen and he tells his students everything he knows.
Now, if you are someone who thinks that you are smarter than a man who literally spends 24 hours of the day making sure his students are well-prepped then please don't take the course. Jason knows what he is doing and if there is some mistake (really rare), approach it kindly and it will be fixed in a matter of 2 seconds. If you are rude then expect heat back.. that is all I am going to say. Now, as far as materials you get everything you need.
The outlines are perfect! My favorite part is the MBE tips at the end and the charts before the essays that tell you what was tested on that subject in a short summary (you start to realize all the questions are almost the same!). The MBE program is great and super descriptive on why each answer choice is correct and why some are just wrong. Hear me out, take this course it is worth it and if you do everything as planned and let someone control this portion of your life for you then you will pass! You need to practice practice and do more practice. You will meet really amazing people and you will have support all throughout a huge obstacle in your life. My favorite part was Jason's humor throughout the course and the OT team's willingness to help me anytime I needed it.
To keep it short, if you are someone who is WILLING to let an expert on this topic help you and guide you... take one timers. Jason is so passionate about the bar that he will make you like it too! If you think you know more than someone who has been doing this for over a decade then don't take this course. Honestly, the class is packed with eager students willing to learn and you need to trust the process.
I found one timers from my best friends sister that took his course a few years back. One thing I love is that Jason doesn't spend his time with marketing gimmicks to get people to join. His work product is the marketing. He talks to you before signing up and even lets you see some parts of the course before signing up (he even has some YouTube videos up you can check out). Moreover, their website was updated when I took the course and it is awesome! Really easy to manage.
I don't know what else to tell except TAKE THE COURSE and get a cool bar number!

Read moreThe following is from an email I shared with students at my school. It occurred to me that others may find the information equally valuable.
Background: I graduated from SCIL and passed the bar the first time. There’s a lot of factors that go into that happening, but I definitely attribute part of that to my choice of One-Timers and their BestMultis MBE’s for my bar preparations.
I’m an engineer first, and I had decided to take the bar exactly one time. I was working full time while I was in school, and my daughter was 2 yo and my son was born 3 months after starting school. I really had no time or inclination to take the bar more than once.
As I’m sure you’ve seen, everyone has their favorite course, and several of the companies pay students for getting others to sign up. I decided I would evaluate each course for myself. How? Starting with the first month of school, I began buying every course I could find on eBay.
If you’ve heard of a course, I bought their materials (used) and slowly, over four years, I literally filled up a spare office at my work. Throughout law school I used them as study aids, to the degree that they could help. I hoped that by the time I got into my fourth year the best one would stand out. Sadly, that did not happen.
In my last semester I was getting a little desperate. There was one or two courses that were better than the others (and no, these were not the big names). But nothing really jumped out. Then I came across One-Timers/BestMultis.
Since their materials weren’t on eBay, I had them send me some examples of their material, and it was different. The explanations made sense. The answers were unambiguous. And the MBEs were not like any I had seen before. It was a gamble, but I decided to go with what at the time was a relatively unknown course.
Many others said I was crazy, that I should stick with the big names. But I trusted my own evaluations, so I jumped in. It was the right decision.
If you have the time and money to evaluate all the courses out there I think you’d come to the same conclusion: The material from One-Times/BestMultis is in a different league from all the others out there.
But rather than just rely on my opinion, I had them send me an example of their MBE questions and answers. You can draw your own conclusions.
I want to be clear that I have never received a penny from them, nor will I for this recommendation, if any of you sign up. I will never know what you do unless you tell me. I’m just giving you the benefit of the thousands of dollars and years of research that I put into making my decision.
I wish you all the best of luck in your studies and bar...
Read moreOne Timers is the closest thing to a guarantee you'll pass the CA BAR (granted you do the work, pay attention, attend class sessions, etc.).
Jason is somewhere between a coach and a tutor. He can be hard on his students, but its because he truly wants them to succeed and looks to pull the best out of them.
Substantively, I preferred 3 main things about One Timers over BARBRI (which I took the first time around).
First, Jason has students allocate their time to ONE SUBJECT at a time. A week for MBE subjects and about half a week for CA subjects. Oppositely, BARBRI has students doing mixed questions from the beginning. Jason's method is more effective because you end the week really know whether you understand the subject. You also spent the entire week working on only that subject, raising the likelihood you see a similar essay question or MBE question on your BAR. This was definitely the case for me; I finished the MBE's with approximately 35 minutes left to check my answers the morning session and afternoon session because all the MBEs (truly, ALL OF THEM) were familiar.
Second, with One Times, either Jason or an essay grader grades your mock essays/PTs every week. By the end of the program you end up with 9-10 graded essays, as opposed to the one essay BARBRI grades for you. This allows you to measure how you're writing is improving every week, and really cements Jason's free flowing, essay writing format into your head.
Finally, and probably most importantly, Jason's outlines are written to teach you HOW TO PASS THE BAR, not to teach you the material. Each page of the outline says things like, "the examiners will test topic X like this," or, " if you ever see X as a stand alone answer without Y, X can never be the right answers because...etc." This method is much more effective than BARBRI, which I felt was akin to a baby 1L cram session. teaching students the material for the sake of learning as opposed to passing.
Also, as a side note; BARBRI has students doing multiple choice, MBE-like problems to learn CA subjects (BA, Community Property, etc.). Frankly, this is really dumb. The CA only subjects are only tested in essay format, and thus should be taught strictly via essays. Jason understands this and has students practice essays only subjects with essays.
I hope this review helps any and all of you in the middle of determining how to prepare for the CA Bar. I highly recommend you give yourself the best shot, and take One Timers. Good...
