As someone who grew up in San Diego, where Islands is based out of, I have had this restaurant countless times growing up. In high school we used to all go here often until Cheesecake Factory replaced it for us, but it also was a frequent stop during college and a lot of my 20s. It’s very nostalgic to me and it had been years since I last had Islands but this past weekend we stopped in for lunch and I am happy to report that the flavors taste exactly the same. This location is attached to the Howard Hughes Center and parking is free for the first 90 minutes and then after that it starts to climb. However, you’re able to park right next-door in the underground parking so it’s not a far walk to the restaurant from your car. Inside of this restaurant is quite large and they have many different seating options and cozy tucked away booths. I love the design on the inside and really feels like a surf and island vibe. Our waitress was very polite and as usual everything that we ordered came out very fast. I will say that one of the downsides is the pricing is quite high for what you get. For a table of two it was about $75 for a cup of soup, two burgers, and two drinks. I think that is what has scared away a lot of people and forced a lot of their locations to close. I was happy to see that the menu had all the classics on it and a few more new ones. As always, I started with the Chicken Tortilla Soup because it’s honestly delicious and one version that I really like. It’s very hearty and has a lot of chicken in it. For my burger, I chose the Bluenami and added avocado and thought it was great. I usually do the Maui so I wanted to try something different. I’m glad that I ordered it. The fries weren’t as good as I remember, but some things are just like that. We also tried their new strawberry cream soda, and I did like it. Wish they would do free refills of it though. Overall, I would recommend if you are looking for a place with great burgers and a lot of drink options in a casual atmosphere. Just know that the price can be a bit more than you’re expecting but overall we had a really nice lunch.

If my memory serves me correctly, I’ve only been to this location twice. Which was several years apart. The first time was when the movie theater first opened. Which was very expensive to see a movie at that time. Which is probably why I didn’t return to that particular location. Second time was when there was a Nordstrom Rack.. However, the Nordstrom store wasn’t there anymore. I was like, what? 🥴.. or maybe it is? My fiancé & I were in the area and decided to stop at Islands and have an early dinner. We waited like 3 mins to be seated, not bad at all… Overall, the area seems dead. Like hardly any action around. Maybe because it was a Sunday. Only Starbucks, that wing spot, the theater and Islands were open. Pretty dull area. …and have to pay for parking is ridiculous. 3 mins free. What? Most people exceeded that time. So yeah, forced to pay to shop. Anyhow; the Food at Island was delicious. Especially the smoothie I ordered. My impossible burger was delicious. Very reasonable price point. I would go back to Island, just another location.

I buy to go here regularly during lunch hour and it's great! I order online and by the time I walk there it's ready! The Double Stack burger is delicious, always fresh and always cooked just perfect, NEVER overcooked and dry. Their lunch burger deal beats out all of the nationwide burger joints in price, portion size, and above all quality, freshness and taste. I also like their Toucan sandwich, it is pretty unique and very good! Their fries are also fantastic even without salt, which is how I order mine all the time! I have to thank the kitchen staff, because they're always spot on and deliver with care a nice presentable meal that looks as good as it tastes! The staff is also amazing, from the host to the servers and Manager, everyone is always nice, friendly, courteous and welcoming! And finally, the restaurant has a pretty unique Hawaiian theme, always has great music and it is always spotless. Well done everyone!

Never again am I going back the waiter was so rude never have I ever been treated that like as soon as we sat down he was asking if we wanted something to drink with a rude attitude once we were ordering he made it sound so complicated and he raised his voice at us becuase he couldn’t get out order right when I asked if the chicken was spicy he rolled his eyes at me and said yes I told him I don’t want it spicy so he asked me again if I wanted the chicken and I said no also when he brought us out drinks he threw the little disk that go under your water at our table and said the straws are next to you once we got our food not once did he come to our table asking if we needed something when we tried to grab his attention he would walk past us like if he didn’t hear us even though he was super close and we called him pretty loud instead he was talking with another waiter the most discussing part was that we found a hair in our food!!!!!! I don’t know what to say but I would never go back I would rather drive for 15 more minutes to the one in Marian del Rey for better service I Belive his name was Chris if you have a very serous attitude I recommend you do not work with...

hate writing a bad review. Businesses work hard and most of the time, bad service is a series of misunderstandings .

But this place is just unprofessional. We were barely greeted after frequenting this location, because we meet another couple who comes from South Bay. It was the perfect halfway point. The hostess (age 13 years old) was our first impression of the place and because it was so busy, she was clearly annoyed with us being there. She said 45 minutes. We agreed and that just didn't go over well, with a nice eye roll.

We waited in bar area only to find out they already called us. Huh? We were in bar for maybe 15-20 minutes. The hostess did not care.

The manager on duty (age 17 years Old) only made things much worse. Rude. Arrogant. And very unapologetic about the poor experience. At one point, she was circling our table. It was our fault! Not theirs! What'?!

We wanted to make this place our spot! We contacted corporate, which resulted in no response. The best part: they finally called three times, time stamped 1:15 1:15 and 1:16. in a row while I was working, left a 3 second voicemail without saying anything?! Huh?

Not going back. No wonder this company...
