The only thing this room has is its production value. The set design is great and it feels creepy as soon as you walk into the room. Everything that comes after was unfortunately one disappointment after another. We were aware, from other reviews, of the auto-hint system but did not expect them to be absolutely horrendous. Most of the puzzles were literally impossible to solve without the auto-hint system. However, the auto-hint is more of a step-by-step manual of what you need to do. Therefore, I couldn't even call what we did in that room solving puzzles. In addition, the story-telling was weak and uninteresting. So in the end, we paid $60pp to be told how to "solve puzzles" and get cheap jump scares.
In addition to all that, our GM made our experience much much worse. We have a couple members in our group who doesn't like horror things. This was fine as we, as a group, agreed that we would never let them be the ones to be sacrificed or locked in a room on their own or other common horror escape room tropes. However, our GM repeatedly insisted that they be the one to do specific things despite literally all of our protests. At one point, our GM even spilled that "it's more fun if the easily scared ones are the one to do it". I can understand the sentiment, but what our group considers fun is to not have our more scared members harassed by our GM this way. Other members of the group are more than willing and would be thrilled to be the one left behind, so why make that decision for us. Let us enjoy the escape room experience that we paid for.
Overall, we don't know if we even want to try the other rooms in this location. The puzzles and our GM have quite literally ruined our experience.
Update: We contacted the manager of this location about our negative experience with the GM only to be completely disregarded. 2 members of our group contacted them separately and the manager straight up lied to one of us saying they've promised the other one a refund. We obviously pushed back against this and were actually promised a refund, only to have it rescinded with a generic email. We never outright requested a refund so I'm not sure what game they're playing here. Save your money and go to Maze Room or Quest...
Read moreAs loyal customers of 60 out, having played over 25 games and consistently provided positive reviews of other locations, I am disheartened to report the lack of adherence to promised promotions and the subpar quality of the experience.
Firstly, despite booking two consecutive games – "Casino Heist 2" and "Smurfs" – I was unable to utilize the advertised promotion offering a 10% discount for booking multiple games simultaneously. Despite my immediate efforts to rectify this issue through both phone communication and email, I received no response or acknowledgment from your team. Furthermore, assurances given by the game master when we arrived regarding a credit for the oversight have yet to materialize, causing my frustration and inconvenience. Moreover, as it was my birthday week, I was dismayed to learn that the birthday discount would not be honored. Given the substantial cost incurred for paying for a three-person weekend booking for two people, I expected at the very least to benefit from the two-person price in conjunction with the birthday promotion. The absence of this courtesy further compounded the dissatisfaction experienced during what should have been a celebratory occasion.
Adding insult to injury, the "Casino Heist 2" game offered at the HHLA location proved disappointingly identical to its predecessor at the West LA location. Had this lack of distinction been made apparent, I would not have chosen in this particular game at such a considerable expense. As a longstanding patron, I have come to anticipate a certain standard of quality and service from 60 out, which regrettably, the HHLA location...
Read moreI had a terrible booking experience with 60out escape rooms. I attempted to book the location on Western Avenue via mobile app, since I was in that area. After booking what I thought was that location, I received an email confirmation with Google Map coordinates. I assumed that was a bug, since who sends a location with coordinates? So proceeded to the Western Avenue location.
When I got there I was told that I had actually booked the HHLA location and that they were unable to change my location (even though there was another empty room available at Western) and I would also be charged a $60 deposit fee for not showing up at HHLA.
The booking process is awful. Unless you know that 60out has multiple locations (I didn't), you're expecting to book at room at the location you searched. To add to this, all of the rooms are listed on one page and there's only small white text showing where the actual room is (easy to miss). To add to this, while we were waiting in the room ANOTHER party showed up with the exact same issue and the person working there said this happens a lot. Can you please fix your website problem and not just slap a self-serving $60 no show fee on your customers for a problem you...
